“We hired Bruce to design an addition to our 900 square foot lake cottage. He drew plans to change the kitchen to a foyer, add a new kitchen, bathroom, and change a utility closet to a laundry area which also houses the on demand water heater and pump. He also designed a large deck lakeside and a covered porch on the roadside. He included central heating and air conditioning. His complete and detailed plans allowed us to be the general contractors. The end result is even more exciting than we anticipated. We would recommend Bruce to anyone looking for an excellent, thoughtful, flexible, and accommodating architect!”

“Laura and I were referred to ELS Designs after several interviews with Southeast Wisconsin Architects. Many had one or more attractive attributes but none were a “one-stop shop” for all our residential architectural design, permitting, and contractor sourcing management needs. ELS Designs remained open to helping us realize our design/living concepts and did not seek to push their own concepts on us –as so many other architects are prone to do. From the start our design process was iterative and without cost penalty at every step and the wisdom of architectural experience helped us avoid mistakes. We are very happy with the results ELS helped guide -and would be happy to speak with anyone in detail considering using ELS Designs for your residential project!”

“We had a remodel in 2000 of our screened in porch. They brought the floor up to the rest of the house (immediately the kitchen), raised the ceiling and installed beadboards, installed about 11 windows + 3 transom windows above on the end elevation. Maple floors, extra heating registers for winter.....it's beautiful. They raised and widened the door opening from the kitchen so it's visible at lot when you are in the house. We call it the "Garden Room" and edmphasize that with our interior design. One neighbor down the street copied out look! Quality work!”

“We worked with Patrick on an addition to our house which included a new upstairs bathroom, new bedroom, a reconfigured bedroom, and a covered porch. The best things about working with Patrick are 1. His commitment to the integrity of the house style. Our addition blends seamlessly with the original 1920's structure, outside and in. He found pictures and helped us envision the finished product. 2. He's open to and loves new ideas. At the last minute he helped us find a place for an upstairs laundry and he welcomed the challenge. He also designed a beautiful reading nook in an unplanned space that we now use constantly. 3. He works well with contractors and checked in to make sure things were running smoothly, was a second voice when questions came up with the contractor, and worked well with ARC. Lastly, Patrick is a nice person and easy to communicate and work with. I highly recommend working with Designsmith!”
