Professional Information:Edward is a graduate of Deakin University, Geelong. His studies were broken by periods of travel, and employment in the hospitality industry. To broaden his Architectural Education, Ed spent 1992-1994 in America, studying architecture at Montana State University. During this time he was fortunate to work for renowned American Architect Will Bruder at his desert studio in Arizona. Following architectural registration in 1997, Ed travelled extensively to further his knowledge of, and exposure to great architecture. On return to Melbourne, Ed established a small architectural partnership, which he sold in 2006 to establish ED EWERS ARCHITECTURE.

ED EWERS ARCHITECTURE was established with a charter to defy mediocrity in the pursuit of creating inspirational architecture. We produce functional award-winning buildings on time and on budget.
Our small dedicated team of professionals will ensure on-going service from highly experienced architects for the duration of the project. The main studio is located in West Melbourne, with a small satellite studio in Ballarat. The practice pursues projects throughout Victoria and has also completed more than 50 projects interstate.
ED EWERS ARCHITECTURE strives to provide flexible and informed design solutions to our clients’ requirements. The practice maintains on-going relationships with its clients, which is demonstrated by repeat and referred clientele.
Our willingness to listen, diplomatic management style, and an ability to respond with fresh architecture has enabled the successful delivery of our projects. We have worked hard with our clients to develop buildings that are efficient, flexible/adaptable and most importantly practical for their intended use and user. Our approach is simple - buildings must make people feel good, and be fit for purpose. This is architecture. We particularly enjoy working with homeowners on their homes. Residential architecture is stimulating and immensely rewarding. We serve our clients; from initial inspection through all phases of design, planning, building approval, tendering and throughout construction – with ‘protecting the clients’ asset’ being our primary concern.
A proven track record in providing leadership, achieving design excellence and delivering professional services. Our planned approach is based on the principle of client satisfaction. As small business owners, our success is integral to our reputation, and our direct relationships with our clients. We take pride in our approach to working with our clients. The key is communication. The process is led by good listening. Honesty, clear communication and consultation will lead to a considered design response.

We were incredibly fortunate to find Ed and his team for our renovation. He helped us get the absolute most out of our townhouse with a signifiant extension. Ed was responsive, knowledgable, supportive, honest, realistic and used his extensive experience to advise us throughout the design and build process. We have no hesitancy recommending him for both the design and project management of any build.

Working with Ed was great. He is so easy to talk to and his expertise was evident as he listened to our preferences and guided us through the process, offering innovative and practical suggestions and solutions. All requirements were met in a very timely manner. We couldn't be happier.

We were fortunate to be referred to Ed when we started thinking about renovating our Moonee Ponds home featured on this site. We had some ideas but would never have achieved the end result without Ed's skill and guidance. Throughout the process, Ed was able to help us to achieve what we wanted, managing the project to time and budget and ensuring we were engaged in the decisions that mattered but removed from the minutia as we balanced full time work and a young family.
It was a fantastic experience that we would definitely do again. I would recommend Ed to anyone, particularly if you are looking to renovate a period property, combining the past with the modern.

Mark and I have recently worked with Ed and his team on our Victorian Terrace renovation in North Fitzroy, Melbourne.
From the beginning we knew that we were in very capable hands.
Ed had some amazing ideas as to how we could achieve the results that we were after.
We loved how our ideas were also important to Ed and how they were incorporated into the final design.
We also retained Ed's team to manage the development, which to our delight went smoothly and without major issue or hurdle.
We would most certainly recommend Ed Ewers Architecture and will definitely be utilising his skills for any future projects.

We have used Ed for both of our renovations and have found him to be a great architect. For our first project we used Ed for both the design and the project management of a small renovation. We loved the design which dragged a 1970s monstrosity of a house (think lots of mission brown and wood panelling) right into the 21st Century. Tweaks that Ed made to layout just made the house 'work'. We were exceedingly happy with the result. Ed and his team worked tirelessly behind the scenes so that while we had the usual decisions to make, any of those problems that inevitably turn up on the site were solved before they hit our radar.
Our second project was based in Sydney (see Ed's project titled 'Springfield' ) and although we spoke with some local architects we didn't get the same comfortable feeling as we had with Ed. Our second renovation was a major undertaking on a heritage listed house where there had been multiple renovations done in the past and little coherence. The floorplan had small spaces left over that had no practical use and the house was very tired. We extended but only by a small amount but again by rationalising the floorplan we have ended up with a much more usable space. The end result is a gorgeous home. This time I was the project manager but Ed and his team remained on call through-out for whenever my builder or I had any queries. What I love about Ed is that we have achieved a great balance between gorgeous design and practicality. The space looks fab but it is also easy to live in and we love that!
