“We were very happy with the design that Michael provided. He has a particularly good knowledge of how to use existing space and we were thrilled with his ideas of how to incorporate several existing rooms into the new design. The sketches and documentation that Michael provided were very detailed and of high quality. His attention to detail was noticed by a number of builders who used the drawings to create their quotes. Michael made the early stages of our renovation process easy, by explaining each step clearly and in terms that were easy for us to understand. The costs for each stage were explained thoroughly, so that we knew which fees needed to be paid and when. He answered our endless questions with patience as well as a high level of expertise, which made us realise we had made an excellent choice. The job ended up being successful for us, because Michael listened to our responses and suggested minor changes along the way. This resulted in a refined set of drawings and we were able to choose a builder to suit our needs and within our budget. Michael’s prices are reasonable, and not as high as several designers that we considered. He put in a lot of effort to make sure we were happy with everything, and continued to check on progress as we moved forward with our selections through the builder. “I hired Nathalie at NS Studio to complete our renovation project and project manage our build. She was so hands on and always there to help me with advice and any queries. I would highly recommend her, she is very well connected and had some great ideas. Nathaie's interior design skills were an added bonus when furnishing the inside of the house aswell.”

“We wanted a garden studio that could also provide extra accommodation when necessary; we have a seaside location which draws family and friends at holiday time. Our house is a traditional 50's stone place so we wanted something to blend in but to also add some contemporary pizzazz. Jane listened carefully to our needs and not so definite brief but came up with a very interesting, practical design which we really liked. She also linked this space design wise to an enclosed courtyard and pergola; unifying the north facing and sheltered back yard. This was probably the only real specification that we provided, that all would function as a whole with scope to add through planting of coastal and indigenous plant species. Jane's creative flair certainly has achieved this, she was always responsive and efficiently came up with practical solutions when we had questions. It has been easy to work with her because of her willingness to focus on the task at each step of the way; keeping us on track in our meanderings! The builders have been impressed with her attention to design detail.”

“We had initial discussions with a number of architects before we met Jane from alsoCAN and were becoming rather downcast about our planned renovation to our house. None of the earlier architects seemed to listen to what we wanted and charged ahead with their own concepts. Jane was different she listened to our ideas and also our desire that any design should assist us to keep with in our prescribed budget so as to avoid over capitalisation. Our property had 100 years of modification and attachments to it one build upon another and by the time of our renovation it was a complicated multi-time period property. Jane was able to take the vision we had for the property and enhance that vision with her experience and creativity. Jane did this through listening meaningfully to her clients, employing her own professional skills and a good dose of practical judgment and tact in guiding her sometimes stubborn clients. After many revision we sorted through a complicated structure developing a design that maintained the older part of the house and included a completely new modern back section of the property that was done in a aesthetically appealing and complementary manner. With our Jane's professional assistance we would never have achiever the result that was finally constructed and certainly not within budget. No one that comes to our house for the first time fails to comment on what a beautiful home it is and is in large part because of Jane.
