HELP! Any ideas how to fix the living room end of our dining room?
Comments (25)First ,is removing excess furniture an option? Second, why bar fridge in the dining area, that really ruins the look. Seems that you can not move dining table closer to the kitchen because you have light pendant above the table, so can you move piano where your black couch is and couch on the other side of the room instead of creamy colour sofa . I notice the luck of coffee tables and side tables, that's probably why you like to sit around dining table, it is not visitors friendly and doesn't encourage conversation or interaction. I will come back to it have to study photos more. Are the arm chain the other room similar colour to the couch in the dining area?...See MoreIdeas please- 1990’s house street appeal needs invigorating
Comments (5)You could replace front fence with a more modern type, add electronic gates for added security while away, your path could incorporate large pavers to add a stylish look, remove large conifer near letter box as they look a little dated now, use water wise plants like lomandra, ornamental grasses, black mondo looks wonderful planted amongst bright green foliage, add an automated watering system and stone mulch as this retains moisture , hopefully you can save your tree, you can cut the roots away from where they are damaging path and relay path, our trees did that and we removed part of the root and added a watering system and that seemed to work , exciting times ahead for you....See MoreLandscaping driveway and front garden- please comment and advise
Comments (7)I do love native violets but they show their best with some shade. For full sun a very rough forums cover with small white flowers is myoporum. The Gardening with Angus site has a great plant selector for other options. Good on you for looking at standard Lilly pilly - they give you greenery all year around unlike roses, weeping cherries etc....See MoreLarge Kitchen, Dining, Living area - fresh eyes and ideas, please!
Comments (37)Oh yes Kate. The whole floorplan as it currently stands is really clunky. When we invite a guest in through the front door, we either have to take them for a round trip to get to the kitchen/dining area, or take them through the walk-through butlers pantry - neither of which are great. The family bathroom is at the entry, which is also shared with guests, which I don't love, but yes, happy to keep it as a WC. The current office is really dark and I hate working in there, and generally take my work to the dining table. I love how you've seen that it's dark without seeing the house. There is also currently no laundry attached to the house. It is in the lower left hand corner of the largest greyed out building to the left of the main house. Although there are worse things about the extensions, it's just a liiiiiittle inconvenient having the laundry so far away from the house, esp at 3am in the middle of winter when the kids have gastro!!! I can appreciate this is a hard ask given the only feel you have for the place are the digital plans, so I really appreciate your grasp of the place. I apologise for not posting the original plan first up. I had no intention of changing the old part of the house (although now happy to open my mindset...within reason, ha ha), and everything else, and I mean EVERYTHING else is up for the eraser! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP! I truly mean it. You have given us a LOT to think about, and we've essentially thrown out all our original plans we had drawn up! Thank you!...See MoreKerri
