Exterior Renovating

exterior colours

Renovating outside. New roof and exterior. Was thinking wallaby for roof and wallaby exterior paint. White gutter and fascia. Black front door (double) remain. White garage door. We have cream windows which we need to keep. Will this colour combo work? Also need to redo driveway colour. Not sure colour. Any advice so welcome.

I think that works too. Your white shutters disguise the cream windows so not really noticeable. I would do the driveway in a dark charcoal.

You can get any colour paint you like in any strength - 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or full - its only a colour, so they will mix it to your request. Have you made yourselves a colour board? if not, you will need to get all your selection colours together and then go to bunnings or a paint shop and get some sample pots of the colours you are debating. (yes it will cost to get sample pots, but seriously you need to do it - and get the varying strengths in the same colour as well). If you are worried about the render colour marking, go the 1/2 strength on the render and 1/4 on the mouldings. Your Wow factor will come with your varying textures - brickwork/render and trims/timber doors, and the wrought iron. I'm guessing you have exterior lighting? some beautiful exterior lights will be the icing on the cake.

Wow, what a stunning façade design and what a great spot to be building. Your decision to consider COLORBOND® Woodland Grey for roofing, gutter and fascia is a great option. It is modern and grey but throws a warm base it blends beautifully into any natural surround. A mid grey render option is COLORBOND® Windspray which will also reflect the beachside setting of your block. White windows would work however COLORBOND® Surfmist is a more subtle way to get a light window colour without the starkness of a pure white. It also works beautifully with the grey tones of the COLORBOND® Windspray. I would also consider COLORBOND® Surfmist for the garage door to match the windows. Lastly I would tie the roofing colour back in by rendering the porch section in COLORBOND® Woodland Grey. Less colours is better for a façade so if we can use a colour for more than on application like windows and garage door, roof and porch render it looks more cohesive. We hope that helps. I'd play off the colour of the new tiles - check out Dulux Henna Red to use as a core colour then choose a red-white, a charcoal grey and high gloss black for the door and small details You could be super brave and go with a Red roof too :) This is a great site to have a look at the differences between a bunch of different colours and doing it right :) http://www.oldhouseguy.com/exterior-paint-colors/ Good luck!

I considered Dieskau, Stepney and Timeless Grey with our render. The Dieskau throws a slight pink and the Stepney is a little beige. It may be worthwhile getting sample pots and painting a few areas around your home to see what it looks like in various light. Alternatively paint a large piece of cardboard in each colour and move it around the house. We decided on Timeless Grey. I think Surfmist is too light. Good luck! It's a very difficult decision. Took us months :)

I was thinking white roof but as you drive up long driveway there’s a lot of roof. It would be quite blinding (sun wise)

The wallaby roof is a good colour. Think of your cooling costs with a dark roof. It is better with a light roof. Having the gutters and fascia and white internal shutters and the white garage door, it will break up the wallaby render and roof.

Your correct about a white roof, it would be very bright and in my opinion not as welcoming.

Just to add how beautiful it looks with the shutters and doing the roof in that colour is great, isn’t it incredible how the right colour paint changes the look , it’s going to look wonderful.

I agree how stressful it is to choose the right colours, but I think what you have chosen is perfect, it will completely change the look, don’t stress anymore, your choices are beautiful, it’s going to look stunning.

If you live in Queensland,/NT I'd stay with the white roof, or shale grey if you must. Think of your energy usage and the environment.

Windspray would be worth considering for the roof, still light but not as bright as shale gray, very neutral
