Need help redesigning kitchen area
Comments (10)Hi- Here's my 2 cents worth. Everyone thinks they want a large pantry until they realise that it's too deep and you lose things in there all the time. I always say to my customers that a pantry, should you want one, should only be as deep as say a Cornflakes packet. Drawers are much more efficient and everything is easily seen. As I look at your plan, I think I'd extend the room out to the eaves on the existing meals area. This would then straighten out the entire space. ( Someone else suggested that as well) Moving the services around all depends if you have a concrete floor or access to the sub-floor area. I'll try to draw something up and post as soon as I can....See MoreNeed help with kitchen plan!!!
Comments (30)Thanks everyone for all your feedback and tips. Below is the plan I have come up with. Not sure how clearly it will show up. Have wrestled with the position of the ovens and sink - thought about swapping them and about having them centred but then think there would be too far between fridge and cooktop/ovens. Cooktop is 600m gas, then two below bench 600mm electric ovens, 900mm rangehood. Sink is double drain, double sink (1550mm in all). I know this seems excessive and against trend but I could not live without my double drain as always defrosting meat, bottles of milk etc and like to have one clean side and one dirty side of the sink. I love the idea of a bi-fold door appliance cupboard for toaster, kettle, microwave but not sure how practical it really is. Will the doors when open be painful and stick out near the fridge???? Do like the idea of having all that stuff tucked away though. What do you think of dishwasher position? Think I will make that gap between island and bench with dishwasher 1300mm as suggested. The only drawers I'm planning on having are a bank of 3 x 3 800mm in the island. I know that are more economical space wise but trying to keep costs down. Should add that behind the L-shaped benches will be windows as much as possible. Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks greatly....See MoreNeed help with kitchen colours in light bright kitchen
Comments (4)One thing you might want to consider too is the finish of the bench top. Even though dark colours absorb light if you have a shiny coating on your bench top it might give you that glare effect. We have a dark green laminated bench top. And we get a lot on sun in the morning and the bench top is quite resonates a lot of glare. Opt for a matt finish in a material that won't throw a lot of light back. I have attached a photo of our bench top to give you an idea of what I mean...See MoreNeed help with kitchen design
Comments (10)Hi Shebin Shukoor , If you need to close the kitchen, but also need the U shape kitchen, I suggest the rolling door above the bench top area. If there is bi-fold door runing on the bench top, it means that you have to clean up all items on the the bench top each time you just finish your work on it, for example having breakfast, if not, the bi-fold door will hit the cutlery sets by mistake and some of them may be broken. so I suggest the rolling instead....See Moreffban
