@Neryl, you cracked me up when I read your post ha-ha @lakshmi17, All jokes aside, if you want to go to the trouble of having beautiful pendant lights and your ceiling is so high, get a professional!!! Save up if you have to but it's the best way to go in this case, you might be surprised that it's not as expensive as the cost of the lights you intend to have fitted. I paid over $130 for each of the three lights I have bought to have installed over my dining table and I'm darn sure my electrician won't be charging me $400 to install them!!!

This is the 'black' version. Do you think that it will still get lost and we need something with more punch. Still deciding on best material/colour for splashback. We will have a window over the sink and glass fronted cabinets along the wall behind the island bench. Hi Jayrees, I totally agree with what Kat had to offer, I would suggest a non geometric pattern on the rug as the floor is already geometric, a light colour and subtle pattern if you prefer a pattern. The mirror should definitely be moved and I would consider a large light print to compliment the new rug and and drapes. It's a pity that the window screen blocks the view (it's a nice view) but the heavy screen is a necessity these days, I would remove the stickers from the glass to help with the openness. Just noticed that you have an air con in the room so you may be able to remove the screen.
