I lived close to the beach on the Sunshine Coast before I moved here a couple of years ago, so I'd have thought I'd have had my fill of beach. Then misshayley posts a picture of Gerringong and I remember from many years ago how beautiful and unique the mid-south and south coast of NSW is (and I'm not that far from it if I head due east). I just need a dog-friendly house, maybe at Eden... :)

We're doing the same, 2 sets. Want wood but have been told they "may" warp, even though under a covered alfresco. Don't have a firm cost yet but indication from builder is $10-15k more than powder coated aluminium. Total width of each set is 3250 divided into 3 doors, with stacking security screens. Don't have a price for the aluminium ones yet to compare but +$10-15k has probably helped with the decision. Have bifolds at current house but will be going for stackers at the reno house because they can have the stacking security screens, whereas bifolds are difficult to security screen, you can flyscreen but it's quite a flimsy arrangement.

Hi Catherine, the glass panes in a louvre window overlap to ensure an effective seal against wind and water. We sell thousands of louvre windows each year and sealing of blades has never been an issue. However, you should always check that the manufacturer you go with and products you select comply with industry standard AS2047:2014. Products must comply to this Australian standard for wind and water penetration and are independently tested, before they can be certified compliant. All A&L products are certified compliant with this standard.

check with your local window manufacturers as we considered a hinged external glass door with an integral double hung window with a separate full height security fly screen door....the cost was expected to be about $3000 but would have been ideal in a small area needing external access and ventilation...for various reasons we decided on an alternate arrangement but our window manufacturers were quite happy to make the door to suit...where do you live and what's on the outside of the door and why do they say it's not possible and you did say that you were happy to have a whole new door made??
