No... for us bedrooms are for sleeping in not playing in, and we all like to snuggle up together. We have two beds all pushed together and we are all in together. Maybe when my 2 kids are older they will share a room, but they will no doubt want to share a double bed. Perhaps they would just like a little nook in a shared room when they reach their teens. We all enjoy the intimacy of shared space. We like to be right on top of each other... we currently have separate kitchen, but everyone crowds in there while we cook. Play areas are in the living room, as well as craft stuff, desks, computer desks, books, toys, We have a typical 3 bed brick house and it does not fit how we live. We mostly only live in half the house. The 2 other bedrooms are just used for storage. Realistically we probably only need a 3 room house. One large sleeping area, one larger living area with zones for our different activities, and open plan kitchen. And a bathroom/laundry. I'd probably even spring for a communal walk in robe off the bathroom/laundry.

Sounds like your daughter's already got some interior designer instincts ;) Loving the black feature wall, and you don't want to take anything away from such a strong statement, so I think you should go with white... or at least a very light grey, e.g. Dulux Lexicon quarter (on the left)...

If you can't change the purple blinds, try and tie them in with layered cream, beige and chocolate brown bedding. A natural wicker style light fitting with matching side lamps. Above the bed, perhaps a large wicker wreath with a few sprigs of lavender (real or not) threaded throughout. If there's room, a chair painted or covered. With the chair you could choose floral or striped, as long as there's Browns, 'soft mauve' with touches of lemon. At the foot of the bed, you can purchase a cheap polyester doona, cut it in half and dye it the required colour. I've done this and it works well. I've then sewn wooden buttons at all the quilted points. Good luck.

Hi Liz. Thank you for getting in touch and I am glad you like the design. It was a risk putting pale upholstery on the bench seating, but the fabric is scotch guarded and the owners have had little problem with the fabric. The fabric can be laundered, however to remain in shape and to retain its quality, it is best to be dry cleaned, which the owners were happy to do if and when needed. I don't have photos of the remainder of the room available at this time, however the opposite side of the room features built in wardrobes along the wall and a bed. Essentially in the middle of the room is a large rug and some large flat cushions offering plenty of room for the child to play with his toys. I hope this information helps.
