White on trims, doors, ceiling. A lot of good painters still use oil based enamels on doors and architraves. A trick a painter told me years ago was if you paint walls white (or any other colour really) use the same colour but as a ceiling paint on the ceiling. Easier to cut in and can look great rather than using the off the shelf ceiling white that is quite stark and cold. Depends on wall colour, etc. but we used White Watsonia on walls and ceiling and looks fantastic. Normal ceiling white would be too stark in our case.

I would paint the roof charcoal grey, the exterior walls a lighter grey. Trimmings in black, same with the slats beneath the verandah. It would blend into the environment and bring attention to the view of the mountains in the background. To add a pop of colour and bring focus to the front door in an inviting way, I would paint it red.

To Modernise this without rendering or retiling the roof I would probably recommend to go darker with the trims. My top pick as a colour consultant would be Dulux's Domino for the trim. It will be a little bolder and create a more modern contemporary feel. You can see it pictured below as the trim. Obviously this house has painted their bricks in the shade "teahouse" however it will still look much better on your 1980s "peru" colour bricks! Don't cover the bricks with bagging, if there is no need. Once the brick has been covered there is no turning back. As Kate has suggested, square up the verandah supports, with timber. Then landscape, landscape, and landscape.
