Cheapest thing to do would be to paint the doors put a bit of timber benchtop from Bunnings and perhaps mirror the back panel, but where's the Bar Fridge going or are you planning a bigger fridge nest to this. As Louie suggested it might be better to get rid of the old as there's no place for a much needed Bar Fridge, A Barn door of whatever style suits you would work well, you can pick up second hand doors with character for this. Then again some Bunnings timber benchtop , (Mel) fitted & supported by beams screwed into the rear and sides of the nook and hidden by a strip across the front as your bench top. With a bar fridge under this, floating shelves above on the wall for bottles /glasses and DVD player etc, much easier to use the DVD when it's not in a cupboard love the room.

Hi me me EC Group are a small Australian mill that were previously known as Edwardstown Carpets. They have traditionally made a good product. The carpet you are looking at is a BCF solution dyed nylon. This means that the fibre is a Bulk Continuous Fibre (ie a continuous length) nylon that has had the colour mixed into it while the nylon was still a liquid (and not applied afterwards). It gives it a much greater resistance to staining and soiling (be aware that it has no separate stain treatment) and means that it also resists fading in direct sunlight very well. As far as the durability of it is concerned, the ratings have evolved to a two tier level of Extra Heavy Duty now, being a 5 and a 6 star. Avenue is a 5 star which is reflected in its' light commercial rating. Being a 25oz I would say it would be a good performer for bedrooms and living areas but will tend to flatten down in doorways, stairs or passages. Without knowing the areas intended we would probably suggest also looking at the Stoney River which is similar but a slightly heavier pile weight and a 6 star rating. Being a solution dyed nylon means it also responds well to being steam cleaned which tends to make it 'bloom' again. Cheers

Hi Kerry, I love the look of your home. Very warm and inviting, snug but roomy. In the living/dining anyway. The other space is a very wide passage is it not! Let me check I have this right: You use the entry at the back of the carport between the living room & bedroom which comes into the room in question. The kitchen is entered off the living room and opens onto the 'passage' room. Opposite that are stairs with the door opening into this room and bathroom which the kids in 2 bedrooms use. SO: how to fix a room that is handy but not quite wide enough to be more than the passage way.... Small uses and small furniture I think is the answer: If you use the large square dining table don't bother with another. If you want another space to sit have just one or two chairs. If you need some of it for study area pop a desk in front of windows at far end near kitchen: it maybe a tad quieter there? I would avoid a TV in there as it is not large enough. If the kids have play-station etc that may work there. Create traffic ways with the furniture: all f't to the right as you walk in (As long as entry door is on the left) but then you need to leave space to move across the room to bath and stairs so another off road! Traffic lights maybe needed if all else fails! If some day down the track you were thinking of renovating the kitchen, would you plan servery and access onto the dining/living room and close off the 'passage' room?
