Not a fan of the tall doors as they always look skinny. A transom/glass highlight above looks great in old houses though. 2700 is a nice ceiling height but not super tall. The std doors will be better in my opinion. The only time the higher doors look good is if they're a wide glazed sliding door unit but they should then be teamed with windows at the same head height! I've never been a fan of the starkness of std ceiling white. Ceiling colour and walls being same shade make cutting in easier to if you're not a professional painter.

Thank you so much, Julie. I thought you would be interested in the end result, given how much encouragement and advice you so generously gave me. :-) I do love it. It has made such a difference and I think (fingers crossed) the landscaping will give it the finishing touch. We are reroofing the pergola, so will post photos when that is completed. The gazebo looks great after its facelift, too.

I like the darker charcoal and white , if repainting make sure it is a nice deep charcoal , NOT a dark grey -- as gwyn says , why be ordinary ? I'll offer 2 thoughts though -- the first would be a bit more white , such as the terrace railtop , and maybe a small 'sculpture panel' on the main wall ( it looks like there is one on the end wall ? ) . Easy to do . Option 2 and 2a is not quite so easy , and may not suit the neighbourhood , but 2 more authentic colour options -- Scandinavian Red is what I would call Barn Red -- with the white highlights that looks the part ! The other option on that thought track is Swedish Blue -- authentic , but not a favourite of mine , and again it may look out of place amongst the neighbours , and its too close to grey for my liking , but with crisp white highlights it can look okay . So I suppose 3 options from me haha -- slightly darker charcoal , with white highlights ; Scandinavian red with white highlights ; Swedish Blue with white highlights .

I like Monument COMPLEMENTING lighter colours , just my personal opinion . I wouldn't do the whole window frame , or the front door , in Monument as a first choice -- whilst bigreaders pics look okay , if a bit too dark and 'blend in with everyone else' for my taste . I guess the first question -- are you changing the roof tiles , or recolouring them ( i.e. what is their condition ? ) . I'd tend to stick with a mid to darker red on the roof , whether you change the tiles to more tiles or longrun , or clean the existing ones , obviously the same on the canopies over the windows . The gutters could be monument , or crisp white . IMO it all ties in with the bricks , the front fence and the driveway . The gables I would go an English Cream , but 'your' Dune would work with one proviso -- the ( 2? ) vents or windows on the gables , I'd do in a bright red againt the English Cream , but with dune you'd pretty much have to do them in crisp white . Me -- I'd do the windows in crisp white , the sills in bright red , the front door in bright red , BUT window sills in Monument ( if you did the gutters in that colour too ) would tone it down and tie it in too , just add the bright red door for interest , and to emphasis the roof and bricks .
