The post on Arts and Crafts movement inspired homes...

Hi all was interested to continue viewing the thread about Arts and Crafts influenced homes...all things useful and beautiful and hand made wood...but I seem to have lost it. Even posted some pics that are really not very interesting and not the ones I wanted to put up.Can anyone tell me where to find that discussion please...love the Arts and Crafts movement as my whole house was lovingly hand made from local timbers, hand hewn, hand carved, hand nailed.....Thanks.

@ Gioenne Rapisarda...I for one do not recall seeing that...article on Arts and Crafrs inspired homes but would also really like to read it and maybe discuss...since my whole house is also from that era and, also, in its entireity, all local timbers, hand hewn, hand nailed etc, the craftsmanship is amazing. Four were built in the same district. In the 80s I met the then elderly electrician who installed the old wiring...and asked him why only 2 power points....this was all they needed back then. Since I purchased my house 30 years ago all I've done is repair and clean and maintain with the addition of a few 'old-looking' mod cons for expediency...otherwise it is still all original. Its a lot of work now many years down thr track.
Enjoy your old lovingly built houses, you who have them, they don't make them like this anymore and I bet the newer ones will be gone before yours or mine.

Typically, three panel doors were used throughout bungalows, Edwardian bungalows and Californian often had 3 panel doors, two long rectangular and one on the top, federation often used these or 4 panel doors, with three vertical rectangles, even the occasional 4 panel vid doors were found. the deco bungalows were often closer to the Edwardian bungalows in that the 3 panel or single panel doors were used. black Japan featured heavily,although using an mdf reproduction would work if you paint them. i successfully found my Edwardian doors on gumtree, driving two hours to get them, so it's worth a try. I have seen some as recent as yesterday with three panels and glass top inserts, which help if your interior is dark. can I ask what suburb your in?

Zazzle.com.au have some cool and affordable posters you can then frame with IKEA / KMart / target frames etc... try searching graffiti for something edgy or beach photography for some Cali type images... or there's architecture shots too. There's multiple sizes available and you can then try matching up to frame before purchasing.. Good luck

@ Gioenne ...YES of course! Thanks. I've posted a couple more PICS on that site to show that house as I bought it in 1984.. Scares me today to look at that! Much better now and truly I have enjoyed playing with it. What a dill...I don't even remember putting up this story...but I've done a lot of paintings.
