What kind of art are you after?

There are a couple of options ... you could place one large (long) artwork on the wall with the airconditioner, if the artwork is spectacular enough, it should take the focus off the airconditioner. Or ... You could place the lounge on the opposite wall (underneath the airconditioner) and place art on the opposite wall. What's the room used for?

Thanks for posting a photo of the room: you really have a blank canvas to work with there, so I'd turn your question around and ask: what colours do you like?

Given it's a multi use space, something bold and abstract but in calming colours might work well. Does this design appeal?

It's available as a canvas print in sizes that would suit: one large piece will be best at balancing out the 'weight' of the sofa in the space.

What colours do you like? What colours do you have throughout the rest of the house? Do you have cushions for the couch? If so, can you post a pic of them :)

My walls are adorned with inexpensive paintings bought in street markets , craft fairs and at "starving artist" exhibits; trays and plates picked up on overseas holidays; a few wood carvings; a copper picture done by my grandfather; a wool wall hanging; several prints my better half bought at a art gallery/museum in England; a framed batik of St George and the Dragon, and last but not least, a carpet-like thing that was once worn by a camel as decoration for a tribal wedding.

In other words, anything can be "art:" its up to you and your imagination.

You could try an art fair - they seem to have them all over the place. you could get a really unique piece for a reasonable cost.

Another option might be to find a spectacular piece of fabric and staple it to an artist's canvas stretcher. Inexpensive, and unique.
