Dreams of Balustrades on our deck

Our deck framing is currently being built, but we are still undecided on the color & design of our railings. We were told by our community that we can only have white railings. I absolutely fell in love with poly balustrades for our deck, but am in utter shock at the pricing i've seen online. Is each one really $50?! Our railing height would be 32". We haven't heard back from our contractor on pricing yet.
Can anyone offer advice/alternatives to balustrades? Would it look off if i had the gazebo railing in balustrade style & everything else in something else?

Comments (11)Hey Camira1999, your pool area has huge potential. We love the wooden element you've added to your outdoor area. You could also add in some more foliage to the area, like we did in the projects below. Lacquering the back fence will also make a difference to the feel of the pool area. We also are manufacturers of DIY glass pool fences, balustrades, mirrors and splashbacks - you can pick up fences in a range of styles (ie: semi frameless, frameless with or without mini posts,etc) from your local Bunnings. Comments (8)Well I know you want to be true to the house & reuse what you can but I would probably go with a more modern style like the stainless wire and timber top rail rather than dowels or timber for the infill. Be mindful of building code for the infill as horizontal is climbable and has to be very close together. There is so much upkeep in timber & if you go with the vertical metal rod look with the timber top plate maybe...? I am not an expert on any era or style though I know you will have a preference in mind & I would go with that. Look at the big picture of how your house will look with a change of paint (are you painting the house?) & for me it was about making the 25 year old house more contemporary. 9 years agoThank you your input! You raised some great points! I feel as though i am a bit jaded in looking at the overall deck style. I honestly got caught up in all of the choices out there & lost sight. We are actually only getting the stone under the gazebo (not the stone columns under the main part of the deck) as it was too costly. Instead, we will have the plain white legs throughout. I am having trouble figuring out what would look complimentary.
They are nearly finished with the framing, so I am a bit frazzled at this point in terms of a good railing selection.
