Help with unusual ideas for kitchen drawer and cupboard fronts
Comments (5)I meant to say earlier.. I LOVE what you're doing with this house! There may be a few products of interest in this [article[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/12-hot-kitchen-trends-set-to-sizzle-in-2016-stsetivw-vs~53600916). (Namely, Neolith and textured laminex.) What dimension are the drawer fronts? I don't know how practical tile would be but there are such thin ones on the market now and large format also. So possibly could one tile for entire drawer front??? This is example of a vinyl wallpaper that looks like grass cloth. My hesitation with something like this is if overly textured, it will become a grease trap. Example of burlap between glass....See MoreKitchen cabinetry advice please
Comments (25)I went through that last year. And, whatever you end up using, the Ikea kitchen planner is a great help in working through choices, layout etc. I can recommend IKEA cupboards, which I got in two colours (antique white and a light ash) - and their installation is even cheaper if you put the cupboards together yourself (even doing the frames for a carpenter is well worth it). The drawers and drawers inside drawers are excellent. I also had to use Kaboodle from Bunnings, as I wanted a corner pantry - it's a system that's also worth considering - my pantry is well made and goes well with the other cupboards. I didn't use IKea for benchtops and splashbacks, as my carpenter had a supplier from whom he could stuff wholesale, which cut costs as well. Twelve months on, I'm still very happy with the kitchen, the quality of cupboards etc....See MoreDark colours for kitchen - help!
Comments (8)Thank you to everyone who has commented - it is really lovely and so useful to have such thoughtful and encouraging comments! annab1997, the natural white is very yellow against the essastone sample we have, but does seem to work with the ticking. I'm trying a half strength version to see if that works - I also need to try it in the actual kitchen space but can't get in until the weekend (it is a building site). We don't really have any wall space in the kitchen/dining to paint as the wall opposite is full length windows. This provides loads of light to the island, but not much passing through to the back wall of the kitchen. Those small sections we do have - to the right of the bifolds on the picture - will either be in ticking (a great background to some of our artworks) or in the colour we paint the cupboards. I will definitely give the Resene colours a go as well as the Whisper White....See More2 Pack or Vinyl wrap
Comments (4)Hi Magi, I am not aware of two pack Polyurethane having a problem with staining from day to day kitchen use. There is however a cheaper Pre-Catalysed Two Pack (a two part mix) paint on the market that does not perform as well as Polyurethane 2-pack, which some kitchen manufacturers use and call "two-pack". So if you ensure to specify the type of 2-pack used for your kitchen, then you should not have any problems. I don't know if it is any help to you; but on our site we have two pages which each discuss the pros and cons of Vinyl on one and of Polyurethane Two Pack on the other, with details that may help you decide which type of these finishing material is right for you. Hope this helps, Malcolm....See More- 9 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
