which benchtops

we are relocating our kitchen, due to an addition to the house. basically we are just rotating it 90 degrees, and adding an island. my dilemma is, that currently i have recycled iron-bark timber bench-tops, with my white kitchen. We are not able to get matching timber, to do the island benchtop. I want to keep the timber bench-tops but looking at alternatives for the island. I have an opportunity to buy some granite bench-tops at very good price, but unsure which colour would look best. Black and white, Black or charcoal? Or will it look stupid and mismatched, with timber around the edges, and granite in the island. We have wrought iron hardware, with a country "lean" to our style. sorry for terrible pictures.cant find anything decent, and currently its all in pieces..

It won't look odd having a different island. Lots do.

I don't like your first picture which I think is the black and white.

So either a charcoal or the black. Maybe charcoal would match your look better.

What a great look you are creating in your new kitchen with all the mix of materials. I just love slate floors. I would suggest you need a much earthier colour in the stone for your benchtops, in regard to the latte tones, something like the organic patterned Clamshell or Shitake by Caesarstone would be great. If you are going with real granite or marble, something like River White granite, which is still fairly white and light in colour, but has some beautiful, organic markings in it. Make sure you view a larger piece before you make any decisions. Good luck!

Do you mean Corian for example? I do have Omvivo Neo solid acrylic for my ensuite vanity which is from Reece and I am very cautious about stains from makeup though below is an excerpt from their product specs. All I could add is that I really love my Ceaserstone kitchen benctop! Thank you everyone for your comments. I have decided to go with a white stone, most likely Caesarstone Intense White, but will be visiting the various stone showrooms over the next week or so to look at other whites (in light of the comments about the starkness of the white options I posted). Looking at a crisp white with a little movement that doesn't clash with the floor and texture of oak panels. Thanks again! :)

I think charcoal would look very modern and would go well with your existing timber bench tops.

But, consider taking a sample home with you and seeing how much dust accumulates on a daily basis and how often you need to clean it to avoid it looking dirty as darker surfaces can sometimes show up dust more than lighter colours.
