Need help for my newly renovated basement
Comments (21)The space looks a bit cold & clinical at the moment. Add sheer curtains to the window from ceiling to floor this wall Add some drama and also help to soften the look. I don't think the corrugated iron works use timber instead . A rug will better define the space perhaps with pops of colour like yellow , orange or red this will add some warmth. Prints on the wall , large pot plants side tables and floor lamps . In the billiard area it would look good to add a pendant lamp over the table you can buy ones specifically for billiard tables . More pops of colour also a couple of occasional chairs . You could also add more timber here to give more ambiance. Happy decorating ....See MoreRenovated basement but hate the layout!
Comments (6)You have to ask yourself, "do I really need all this seating" how many people will you have at a time to view that massive screen for movie night? Perhaps having a raised platform will allow for you to place extra seating in front of each other just like a real cinema. Do you really need that coffee table in the middle? Can you place both white lounges together and push them further back against the wall so you could then place the black one in front of them? If your using the area as a games room as well, do you really need that brown lounge that seems to be in the way? Do you really need that black (office) chair beside the football table that you may have to shift to the middle of the room to use? Can you place the screen on a different wall to lengthen the area? It looks to be a fantastic room for a home cinema/games room but as the rule says...less is more!...See MoreHelp needed for first time renovators
Comments (15)Thank you all for the advice so far. It's been really helpful. I'll try answer some questions the best I can, as I don't have all the measurements etc. The structure on the northern side of the house is an old shed. Hubby wants to remove this eventually to allow access for his pool. The we were thinking about putting a single car garage in its place. Given the money restraints, we won't be looking at that for probably a couple of years. Not sure of distances from living and master bedroom to the front boundary, but yes, there would be plenty of space to build out into the front yard. We hadn't really considered that, as I thought it might look funny as the roofing will be different from the rest of the house. siriuskey, thanks so much for the diagram. It's a massive help to get my head around things. You've managed to tick off most of my wish list! I love the long pantry right behind the kitchen. I hadn't thought of structuring it that way. We figured there would be some asbestos that needs to be taken care of. I have a couple people coming by next week to take a look and get some quotes. Has anyone had experience with it and could give me a rough idea on what the costs are like? I've been told you can pay $3000 - $4000 just for them to drop it at the tip. Thanks again. I'm starting to get excited about renovating now I have some ideas from you all....See Morerenovate a basement area.
Comments (3)Hello, Have a shower and toilet about 15 feet away and wasn’t thinking about adding a bathroom. The area is zoned by the Council as a bedroom area. I didn’t even think about the message going to the Australian site. This is the first time I have posted, although I have saved some photos of various additions. Should I also post this to the USA site. John...See Morejfoley75
