@mellybean1, Hubby and I have installed an indoor pool into the home we are currently building but fortunately we were able to do everything ourselves, including all the foundations, pool excavation, plumbing and concreting. Could't begin to work out how much you would have to pay to have a pool installed on a slope too and totally by others but I'll give you a bit of an idea of what I know: Engineers plans for pool construction - $3,000 Fibreglass pool - $20,000 Excavation costs including removal of soil with trucks, if you cant use it elsewhere in the build: $10,000 Excavation if you had rocks: $20,000 Foundations a bit of an unknown but a concrete pool about 15m x 3m x 1.5m would include several loads of concrete at approx $1,000 a load and each truck load would hold about 5 mtrs. I'm guessing about 3 loads for the pool alone, however concrete used in pools is differend and sprayed on and not installed like ordinary concrete that can slump, so it's probably allot more than $1,000 a load. Concrete pump to use to construct concrete pool: $2,000 to come to your door before it begins forming up the pool. Pool fencing, a guess $5,000 You won't have much change out of about $80,000 My figures could be a bit wrong but they will be fairly close. Labour nowadays constitutes approx.60-70% of the value of the works to be performed. Best of luck. Cheers, Barbara

LED lighting has made such a difference to how you can illuminate your home now and they give excellent light so you don't need the number of downlights as before. Strip lighting on stairs, for example, can look amazing and add wow to your home. Be guided by the experts above, or a good electrician should be able to give you practical advice. In some rooms one downlight can even be enough if you plan on having other feature lighting. Pendant lights for your bedroom will look great, but look at what wattage the lights you choose will take and whether you will need any other lights in the room. I have always been very minimalist in my home and try to keep to one light in each room for general access lighting and have alternative feature lighting for atmosphere. For example, I just have one LED downlight over my desk in my bedroom for when I'm working and a lamp each side of my bed for other times, and this is all I need. In my lounge room, I put two pendants, hung at different lengths in one corner of the room as a feature and I have two table lamps for when extra light is needed, but for watching TV or just generally entertaining and relaxing, the two pendants on their own are enough. Like you say, nothing is worse than over lighting a room, it totally loses any atmosphere. Your home theatre for example, could only need two downights for when you need a good light for cleaning and such, otherwise for general use, some wall sconces will give subtle lighting to the room. Have the two types of lights on separate switches naturally. One important thing I always suggest people be mindful of in work areas especially is to place lights so you don't work in your own shadow. One example is the kitchen sink or hotplates - put the light slightly to one side for better visibility.

Trent, I also thought, depends on the colour cabinets and paint choices in room. My room has white cabinets, therefore the light is reflected around the room. If you are having, for example, dark wooden/laminate kitchen cabinets, or dark wooden floors, then you would need the lighting you have. But my overall thought, is you have maybe three too many LED,s.
