Comments (8)What do you currently like about the room and what don't you like? Without any major changes, the aspects which jump out to me include the following: placing some tall, potted plants outside to provide a nicer view from the window than the fence; replacing or adding to the current window furnishings to add opulence (i.e. thick, long, dark curtains in a colour complimentary to the feature wall) and perhaps also sheer curtains to obscure the view of the fence; a painting or potentially an ornate mirror on the feature wall (i.e. something that will compliment the feature lighting); potentially a large rug under the table if you wanted to soften the room and to add an extra degree of opulence to make it a really "formal" dining room; the addition of a decorative element to the centre of the table or potentially a table runner in a complimentary colour to the chairs; re-arrange the objects on the side table to form a more traditional vignette on one end of the table (i.e. a grouping of three similar objects, but with varying heights); potentially move the high chair, although that's probably not a very practical solution if it's used multiple times every day....See MoreSitting room
Comments (8)Some re-arrangement of furniture is needed in here I think & colourful art above the fireplace. The furniture pieces are not yet speaking to each other it seems. A subtle coloured traditional patterned rug could be the start of a scheme to unite the pieces with complementary cushions adding softness & more colour interest. The two cushions on the chesterfield are not enhancing it & could be tried on the settee perhaps. Then if the Chesterfield moved to in front of the fire & the settee moved in to that spot with the mirror above it to reflect the window/window seat. Add a potted palm on the right & the single chair on the left side of the window seat for balance. A new coffee table & maybe the current one could sit beside the settee on it's left Then a special piece of art above the fireplace to see as you enter the room & invite you in though it looks like some electrical work to the fire is needed to get rid of the visible cord. With the tv gone do you need to keep the little table it's on or can you use it elsewhere? Not sure if it could go behind the Chesterfield as there are quite a few pieces of furniture in there. Your furniture pieces & room itself are lovely & just need some tweeking so have fun playing with different arrangements & adding soft furnishing layers....See MoreDining room help
Comments (18)The room you like has pretty sheers and pendants you could add the pendants now and sheers later if you want to change your current window treatments. I’d definitely go for a table centrepiece to cover up some of that black which cos of size of table and severe window treatments really drains the room of life So depending upon how much your toddler climbs and pulls things off table go for a pretty and large circular mat to take away from all the angles and a pot plant and maybe candlesticks...See MoreDINING TABLE DECORATIONS MINIMAL AND MODERN
Comments (4)A simple vase with flowers is always a wonderful centrepiece for any table. Remember, if this is your everyday dining table, each time you sit down to eat, you will have to move or remove centrepiece. So something simple is best. Make your dining area interesting with window treatments and artwork. Non slip placemats are great. They come in various colours and textures. Available at all homeware shops....See More- 11 years ago
