Hiya, for a no fuss cover my suggestions are: Ivy - would cover the wall completely and also climb the fence. It's super easy to keep neat by using an electric hedge trimmer. Bamboo - get a species that is clumping - not spreading. Species that have black stems against the green leaves would look very striking. Most grow quite tall though and require full sun so you'd need to take this into account. Lilly Pilly's, Murraya's, Photinia's are hardy and great for tall hedges. Certain species grow quite quickly. Want to get some use out of your plants? Consider passionfruit vine. Great fruit, but the wine will lose its leaves in winter. Same with wisteria, ornamental grape, etc. Enjoy, and hope this helps. Flower Power http://www.flowerpower.com.au/gardening/pool-friendly-plants-2/ provide a fairly generous list of plants that are suitable but you need to figure out the look and how much maintenance you're prepared to put in and think about thinks like the creepy crawlies that live in plants and that will find their way into your pool. A trip down to your local nursery and a chat with their horticulturalist will set you up nicely - be sure to take the size of the side that you're wanting to plant out (remember you wont want invasive roots) and if you can take a layout of your yard with the pool and the direction if faces, they'll be able to set you up with plants easily. If you decide to go low maintenance there are laser-cut screens and outdoor artwork that can work beautifully if you paint all your fence to one colour. Good luck,

The leveled area that you propose has not considered drainage. Looking at the photos, there is an existing swale that is catching excess moisture and then enabling a percolation effect. If this was my site, I would leave as it presents - this is the sustainable way. You can plant into the slope down to the swale. But use plants here that will tolerate wet and dry. And do not bring in extra soil - use what is on site. This is the sustainable way, and your garden will last. The area adjacent to the house (1.2 meters wide min) I would put down a base with fine aggregate over the top. You may not even need garden edging if managed right. The slope can have plants with a mixture of heights - avoid the Acacia recommended; the A implexa suckers and the Hakea salicifolia will get far too big for the space. Better choices are some of the smaller shrubby bottlebrush and maybe grevilleas. A couple of smaller trees could be considered but not lumped at the top. Finish with a few native lomandras all the same variety to add a textural contrast. Clean up the concrete mess left by the builders - this is extremely alkaline. The aim of the planting should be to hide the fences - and the roofline over the back fence and provide diversity of plants for birds. Remember the obligatory bird bath.
