This is a tricky one! I'm not a fan of a TV dominating the room either. An L-shaped couch could be a starting point - thinking about furniture that isn't always oriented towards the tv but flexible when you do want to watch a movie. We also found having a lower, longer sideboard / tv unit made the TV appear smaller in proportion, so not as focal. Good luck :)

A glazed door would allow more light whilst still providing privacy. I would be replacing the cabinet with a smaller one that is a little taller, then you don't have to hang the TV on the wall. A bright rug and a large colourful print above lounge suite will also make a big difference.

I would suggest hanging a large moroccan woven fabric or mat, just use a length of dowel along the top edge, and hang it up. It would add great texture and also a casual feel to the room. Dress up the couch with a bunch of patterned cushions and a bolster moroccan style. Hi Roz, Looks like you have a beautiful space with lots of light, great idea to go with a tropical theme and the bar will be a fantastic touch.
