Forget subways, really overdone & can look so cheap. The more grout you have the more cleaning you'll have to do. It collects grime ( known in the trade as 'grotty grout' ) & is hard to maintain. Go for glass, the possibilities are endless, from sophisticated plain to funky patterned. Easy care & long lasting. Personalise your space, it looks really fab, love all your drawers, so practical ! Hey mate yes you need to decide the stone bench top finish height first , and at frame stage the window needs to be installed in such a way so that the bottom frame of the window is is set to that exact height. As you wont be able to move the window up or down at later stage.

Thank you for all these comments! Nice photos, Malcolm. And I had wondered whether there was a way to seal grout. So interesting that you raise the no-splashback idea, CP! I had also thought about just painting that side. The tap is far enough away from the wall that we don't actually get much splashing. Then I could have the mirror on the other side without worrying about having 'competing' splashbacks on either side.
