Thanks so much for the advice everyone! i will talk to my parents about adding a fence, trimming the greenery and doing something about that red brick! me me - they brought the house off the builder in the 90's - its like a weird light grey with the green paint trims - the inside was worse, apricot as far as the eye could eye!

Like this I especially like the last one as it has grey in it

Hi Louise, I did a little mock up for you. I would look at using some more greys and whites and brightening up the room. I mimicked your lamp and just "sprayed it gold" and changed the shade colours to draw your eye up to the artwork. I liked the bedding so played off that a little and added more textures and I love black, white, grey together, super chic and glam. It's amazing what a lick of paint can do. You would need to get permission to do anything to the woodwork, if you're a tenant its maybe best to leave it as is. I dont know what colours the other walls are but if theyre neutral enough you could leave them as is. Hope you like my attempt and happy to answer any q's. If you have a sample of it then Dulux can match it with a "Snapshot" digital colour analyser at one of the Dulux Trade centres. It matches any paint sample to the three closest standard paints. If you don't have a sample of it, and have only seen images of it on the internet then you are better off selecting one of the Dulux greys as it is too difficult to match from a digital image as there are too many variables with lighting, cameras and screens.
