1930s character home with stucco and brick and trim all in different colours- would like suggestions for stucco - paint or siding? colour? trim on windows? shutters? landscaping? bay window?
I am planning on re trimming windows in something far more substantial: adding trim to bay window and painting it the same as window trim- whatever that happens to be...I take posession of this fixer upper in the summer and looking for paint and cosmetic suggestions to give this hideous house presence
The posts should be a bit beefier and match whatever window trim color you end up with. I would replace the railing with something more slender. I'd love to see some grids in those windows and parging on the concrete block foundation. You could go with shutters on 2nd floor, but with the right color scheme and other work it's probably not necessary. Add a big chandelier under the curved ceiling. And I'd replace the stucco area with horizontal siding (cement board or vinyl depending on budget). Maybe even a vinyl cedar shake. As for color, I'd pick a warm toned tan (yellowish) to bring out the colors in the brick. Something light along the lines of what's there... but something that goes better with the brick tones.
Thank you Joshua - very much what I had in mind, leaning towards vinyl cedar shake look, the chandelier I hadn't thought of but certainly would draw the eye - thank you for the suggestions:)
