Drawers. Are you crazy? Cupboards are the best way to lose anything
Cupboards. Drawers are annoying, particularly for your shins.

Drawers for Kitchen
Comments (7)Will you have any other drawers in your kitchen? I have 2 banks of 800mm and 2 banks of 900mm wide drawers. Each bank is two deep drawers, but then I also have two other banks where in one I have 3 standard width drawers (2 shallow & 1 deep) for cooking utensils, etc. and in my island next to my 800mm drawers I have 4 shallow standard width for cutlery and junk. I love the wide drawers, each of mine has a different thing it holds, crockery, pots, pans, bakeware, etc and I can fit everything of that type in the one drawer. Mine all have side rails so you can stack things up quite high in the drawers, which is good for things that don't stack nicely. I think you can mix in 2 deep drawers as long as you can get the drawer fronts to line up nicely....See MoreKichen Bin Drawer?
Comments (7)We have a new two-bin drawer in the kitchen of our newly built house and it works really well. The brand is Halo and it looks very similar to the Hettich ones but maybe a bit more sturdy-looking. The kitchen company originally offered shallower bins (half-depth) that fit under the sink, bit I went for the full depth ones and don't regret it for a minute. There is a shelf above the bins for a dustpan & brush, or whatever else you don't mind storing in the same cupboard as the bins, which is also practical. I can see merit in using the space under the sink for the bins, but in our large and busy kitchen I am very happy not to have to empty the bins so often. The door size is standard, so if in future there are no replacement bins available (if they ever wear out, as they're really solid), it is a relatively simple matter to convert this drawer into a cupboard or some such other solution. Hope this helps....See MoreMake builder change drawers? Worth it or not? :/
Comments (38)I have to agree with the comment on symmetrical. I really thought that was something I should be pedantic about but then I had to take into consideration what storage I needed and as my kitchen is only small, there was no way I could even begin to think symmetrical. I chose to have finger pulls on my drawers which unlike handles does not draw attention to the unevenness, but even then I actually prefer the fact that each of my drawers are different, to me it is more interesting, and better still, helps OLD minds like mine remember where I put things....See MorePull out knife drawer
Comments (16)I think the safety issue is that with this style, the contents are right at a child's eye-level. They'd be much more tempted to play with this draw. I think you'd have to invest in a good child lock. With a regular drawer style, you could have it a slim profile be the top drawer. Less likely for them to easily see the contents. They might not even know what's kept in there. You could even have push release instead of a handle so it appears there is not even a drawer there. Same could be done for the vertical unit. I'd still want to use a child lock though, if I had a kid around. The knife blocks vary in price A LOT. Just saw 7 pce sets online for $69 on sale, $199, $274, $549... I would hope they include knives! You might be better off grabbing a bunch of the RETRATT blocks from Ikea....See MoreFrancine
