That's great advice re the colours Design Organisation, I've been trying to work out how to choose the right greys to create the same effect as the one in your photo (still looking for a door like it!) Unfortunately budget doesn't extend to replacing the gutters which are that very 80s primrose. I've spoken to builder re your suggestion about the width of the poles and we might now replace them with timber posts, you've been really helpful!

Selling a second-hand door can be quite tricky as not all doors are the same size in width, height and thickness. The market is limited to those who are happy to make a custom frame for it as it is likely that it won't fit into a standard door frame. Despite the craftsmanship I would not expect top dollar, and would let the market decide via auction, such as Ebay. This may sound blunt , but it is so , so easy -- hide everything in your picture ! Look at the neighbours , a nice door and surrounds , in pleasant colours , with nice timber and bricks . Yours is square and open , with vertical wallboards ( maybe even synthetic or cement based ? ) , battening , a billy basic door and light , a window that is totally different again and even has a different coloured surround to the door ! So yes , change the door , do that whole wall or all 3 in a different finish . Do something about the cracked concrete path -- how about tile with terracota tiles , or white ones with a light blue pattern , right up to the door ? And the pipes -- do a canopy , or a facade in natural timber , or a sloping roof in the same material as your main roof -- hide them . Easier than moving them , and the associated risks implied there . I'm here in New Zealand , and I reckon you could do something including labour , and a door and side panels similar to your neighbours , for around $5000 , or $10,000 would be a real step up above your neighbours look haha . I assume your costs would be in that general range .

I'd be worried that red brick , presumably white door jambs , then a walnut or mahogony ( dark walnut ) look door will look cliched 70's . A cedar or even something like Jarrah will be different enough to the brick ( again , making the assumption you have crisp white or similar to break the tones ) to look the part IMO . Of course , the actual design of the door will have a slight bearing , but personally I can't think of too many options where I would prefer a walnut or mahogony tone , unless you were really embracing the era and have yellow dimpled glass inserts too haha .
