How do we arrange our lounge room?!
Comments (7)Depending upon the proportions of the furniture, you could put a small study desk in the corner with the shared kitchen wall. Or you may like to use that space for a bookshelf or a console table/credenza if you don't have room for one in the entry. If the TV is on the large, blank wall, then you could have two 2.5-3 seater sofas facing opposite one another with a coffee table in-between, but only if you're happy watching TV on an angle (or snuggling into the corner of the sofas). Kind of similar to these: Otherwise a modular sofa facing the TV may be better, although buying the right size will be important as you don't want to "block" traffic between the entry and dining room. Maybe something similar to this: You may also want to consider leaving enough room to place a trunk or small console table along the back of the sofa so that guests don't walk straight into/immediately view the back of the sofa when they enter the room. If the bay window doesn't have a built-in window seat, then that may be a good space for a small occasional chair and side table for reading or relaxing. Unless you really have absolutely no furniture, I would just move in. Once you've had an opportunity to get a sense of the space and how you move between the rooms, then I would consider going shopping for new furniture....See MoreHow do I furnish my new lounge room?
Comments (31)Hi Roz, Looks like you have a beautiful space with lots of light, great idea to go with a tropical theme and the bar will be a fantastic touch. If you want something a little more casual, have you considered adding a [drinks trolley/ bar cart[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/bar-trolleys-let-the-good-times-roll-stsetivw-vs~56579761) instead of a built-in bar? Also, there are some great ideas in [this story[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/get-the-look-caribbean-style-with-a-twist-stsetivw-vs~76280038) that might help you with furniture and decor. As a lot of other people have said, natural fibres are going to be your best friends, as are lots of [beautiful houseplants[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/our-10-hottest-indoor-plants-stsetivw-vs~27299305) to add lushness and freshness to the space, perfect with all of those windows. Hope this helps, and can't wait to see the finished product! Deirdre...See MoreSmall, odd shaped backyard - how do I make the most of this space?
Comments (9)Thanks for all the suggestions - it's certainly given me some good ideas. julia herbert - I love the screen pergola - it's perfect! And maybe a water feature in the top left corner of pic might work and give a nice view from the bedroom and the garden. oklouise - there are three bedrooms with windows from the left (the master is on the far left overlooking the long strip of garden) and on the right is a living/dining area with glass sliding door. scottevie - I don't need to have a washing line in this area. As far as garden, the lemon tree and roses are my only must haves. That pathway in the photo looks great, however the pathway area is only 1.5m from house to fence so I'm not sure it's wide enough to become functional. Thanks for the searching suggestion - I'll look for some more inspiration in the narrow gardens! Would love any other suggestions anyone might have....See MoreFurnishing small open plan living room
Comments (26)my suggestions include a small lounge and occasional chair with side tables and a generous toy box or table with shelves for work surface and toys for small kids, a big rug to sit on and tv above and/or to the side of the heater...also consider alternative access to the storage cupboard for extra wall space and a 75cm deep island over 45cm deep drawers with knee space on two sides will keep the island less bulky and have more walking space between island and dining...See MoreVy
