If space allows a walk in shower with a fixed glass panel is more open. Also a wall hung vanity gives a more spacious feel.

Looks very similar to one we've just redone! It was such a lovely 80s peach ;-). May I suggest whatever you do , have large wall and floor tiles same colour ( I used porcelain carrara), a wall hung vanity and frameless shower with niche. This increased the visual space enormously. All purchased 'off the shelf' specials so done quite inexpensively

Yes, that 80s peach was a lovely colour wasn't it - broke my heart to say goodbye to mine. Fortunately today's whites look so amazing, I got over it very quickly.

Matching floor and wall tiles are easy to buy now, I kept mine matching and love the result. Keep any pattern in the tile minimal and either white or a pale colour. If you are repeating the skirting tile again though, I would just use half a tile, a full tile like you have is not necessary and looks a little clumsy. I was advised against fully tiling both bathrooms because of their size and keeping tiling to a minimum definitely increases the size of both rooms visually. A frameless or semi-frameless shower screen will make a huge difference. A niche in the shower recess wall looks great for holding shower needs but not always possible to do. An alternative is simple clear glass shelving. I was very disappointed I could not have the niches, which wasn't discovered until the rooms were gutted, but I'm now very happy with the shelving.

A wall hung vanity will increase the room size visually, but they are more expensive to install. Keep the vanity very simple and a floor one will be fine. If you need more storage, a mirrored shaving cabinet will work and give you a frameless mirror.

walk in shower..toilet same where it is to save money..you can leave the vanity as a floor one or get a wall hung one from Timberline or similar they are reasonable.

your bathroom is similar configuration to mine..in hindsight I would have gone for a floor one as didn't make much of a difference floor or wall as nowhere to move..

If you are going to gut the entire room, I would install undertile heating. It was the best thing I did when I did my ensuite (my cat loves it).
From my experience you need as much storage in an ensuite as possible. I would look for a vanity that allows you to maximise your storage, like this one that has a drawer that fits around the plumbing.

Also do some research on small bathrooms there is heaps out there.
Having a cutout/nook in the shower is very handy, sometimes I wish I had two of them.
When I did my ensuite I also installed a foot rest for shaving my legs, this is very old-school but it gets used all the time.
