Thanks for all your comments. We've decided to go with a soft tan leather and will probably cover just one of the chairs initially (we have two of them). I'll post a photo when it's reupholstered, which will be a few weeks away yet. Looking forward to breathing new life into the chair. It's so comfortable and we love that it's locally made. Thanks Macu Design for the fabric link - some really beautiful and unusual designs, love the Australian inspired patterns and will keep them in mind for cushions and maybe wallpaper. Meilin42, I agree. The lines of the chair are beautiful and would be overwhelmed with patterned fabric. We looked at the Kvadrat/Maharam fabrics, great options, but couldn't decide on a colour! Very tempted by the citrus, deep purples and teal, but as upholstering is so expensive, we've opted for a classic leather look.

I agree with both DreamHomeinkz & Rebecca. Go with a more neutral patterned traditional fabric for the chair, add a headboard to your bed with the same fabric, or if not the headboard, purchase taller lamps & shades to give a more overall "height" to the room. I'm keeping the chairs original as they are pure wool. Yes, I'm thinking lighter floors and I will either paint the book shelves in the Island bench white or charcoal (see third picture) I'm thinking some open shelves in light wood and timber lights too. I'll post some pics of inspiration. Until we knock the wall out, I'm a bit stuck to do any more. It's still just a work in progress at the moment

Gorgeous chairs. Do you have a table yet? Can we see some photos of the area? How well lit is the area? What look are you going for? Something bright and fresh or something muted and warm, like the colours posted above. My preference would be for a glass table with chrome legs and lots of white including kitchen cupboards. Charcoal could be too heavy, depending on how you use it, black could give a sharper contrast to define the room. I would add touches of clear yellow too. This would give the rooms a very clean and fresh look. I think those chairs would go very well with today's modern/minimal look which is also why I would keep to lots of white.
