Help, my front door doesn't scream 'Welcome'!
Comments (42)Replace the front door and joining window with a set of double doors - either solid oak or just classic glossy black. They will add value to your home, personality and will make life easier when it comes to moving in or out large sized pieces of furniture that can be a headache if you tried to fit through a single door. The path to the front door can either be painted a colour of your own choice or even paved, while I would also add a border of either pebbles or flowers (e.g. Lavender, Geraniums, Agapanthus, what ever suits your fancy ) down the right hand side of the path to add colour and a visual aspect to your front yard. Make sure your whole front yard looks neat, clean and tidy. If possible, employ the services of a landscape artist. Though highly expensive, he or she may give some quality advice in how to capitalise on your existing garden....See MoreHelp with front door colour
Comments (8)It is really up to you. I live in an area with lots of weatherboard cottages. Many people are painting their front door in 'pop' colours. In my street we have red (lots....it's the new black I think), teal, yellow, lime green, deep glossy navy and mauve (actually rooks really good with tarnished brass hardware). They all look fabulous....See MoreShould we keep or replace our front entry door?
Comments (22)Selling a second-hand door can be quite tricky as not all doors are the same size in width, height and thickness. The market is limited to those who are happy to make a custom frame for it as it is likely that it won't fit into a standard door frame. Despite the craftsmanship I would not expect top dollar, and would let the market decide via auction, such as Ebay. Such a pity as it has so much character, is such a conversation piece, and is not a generic door. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls...See Morewhat colour to paint frame of front door
Comments (7)Agree with Deanne - consistency as always is the best option Frames typically/traditionally will be all the same colour, and if you want to pick out the door differently in a bold colour then go for it, but keep the frames the same and it won't look out of place. I'd also also consider lightening/freshening up the flanking inset panelling too. I also wouldn't be scared of painting the entire door black to make more confident design statement. Best to own it one way or the other. Good luck :) PD www.pauldistefanodesign.com...See MoreRina
