Beautiful table, re upholstering the chairs and updating the area where they are would be a good start, add some colour to,the room and a floor rug. when I saw the first picture I thought paint it but not so sure once I saw the lovely carved legs I became stuck on the decision. I painted my traditional dining table and changed the area it was in but mine was nothing special, a reproduction made of rubber-wood, beautifully made table but no vintage piece of furniture .. I did a story on it in Houzz called painting a table if you wanted to have a look. Another option could be to paint the chairs as well reupholstering them but leave the table as is. Re interior design we clashed from the beginning - often still do! I like colour, filled walls, vibrant rugs - think Mexico. He professes to like the minimalistic approach (his illusion. His office and bedside table - an unmitigated mess). He tells people we have a 'mixed marriage not without it's tensions.' However we've mainly reached a compromise now with bits of dash and colour and bits of neutral space. I give in more and more now and only dig in when it really matters to me. Oddly he's now started saying, 'that looks nice ...'

For me, it would be colour. Maybe a feature wall for walls around dining, or living, pick colour from your favoured painting, and use same and other colours from pictures for cushions or even some occasional furniture in the brightest colour - I saw this done beautifully in a tarted up house for display - a small seat/coffee table painted and upholstered in an orange mix, which was taken from the splashback (everything else was neutral) and also in a throw for lounge.
