Excellent responses people! All those great house design ideas that I never thought of. Pity I got nuthin', but a few other design masterpieces....video....the space shuttle......the apple macintosh...the cellphone, but never mind all that...leg warmers and MacGyver, woohoo. Before replacing your curtains as this can be quite expensive for such a large window, if they are in good condition, add a band of extra fabric to the bottom in what ever suits you, your existing curtain track can then be moved up to the ceiling for good looking full length curtains without the large round eyelets, could save you a lot of money, I would look at replacing/removing the sheers cheers

Unfortunately the door had to swing from that side due to light switches having to be a certain distance from water (shower). Plus I’d rather have the first view be of vanity and bath, rather than shower and toilet... Solution was to go for a hidden control arm (Glynn Johnson 410 series concealed overhead door stop) at the top of the door that bounces door back away from shower screen. Can’t see it when the door is shut. Plus didn’t interfere with water proofing/tiling.

Hello Katie, Ms House is very appropriate! Lovely chunk of dry land there with views too.... wonderful. With the north up the page, why not face the longest side of the house to it for best passive solar gain. It will depend on other things too like where are you? Where will the vehicle access come in from, where do you plan the garage to be? Lots of other things will influence where the front door goes: if you follow passive solar design you would have an air lock to the external doors so the heat or cool within the home does not escape with a knock on the door.
