Need help with living room layout!!
Comments (15)Would you consider putting the TV and its console angled across the corner to the left of it's current location? The sofa would also be angled and parallel to the TV. Your current sofa might be a little too long for that and it might be awkward to move about the room - hard to tell in these small spaces til you try it. Or you might try the TV between the 2 windows on the left wall with the sofa again parallel to it - walk behind the sofa to get to the dining/kitchen area. That way the sofa would also face the front door and be welcoming or at least inclusive of someone walking in. Does the table have a leaf that could be removed to make it smaller? If so, try that and put the extra chairs around the living area, and the leaf could store under the sofa or under your bed. Once you get the big pieces arranged so that you like the look and flow, you can fill in with smaller pieces, rugs, pictures, other items. If possible remove the stool and pile of books on it as well as the pile between that and the TV....See MoreDining room styling help
Comments (39)That looks so much better. Definitely make chair covers for the rest. I've used aqua accessories in my room- a throw, some coasters and a leaf shaped bowl for the table which has a silver outside. You can always change the accessories with the seasons (I have a red throw for Christmas time) . I'm also having a dilemma with a large window. Initially I'd wanted plantation shutters in white to replace the dark red cedar venetians which made the room gloomy, but I'm now thinking of softening with semi-sheer curtains. It is only partially overlooked in one corner and the rest looks out onto a wall that is less than 1 metre away....See MoreKitchen/dining facelift for selling HELP
Comments (31)e just cleaned a house for a deceased estate - a small clinker brick one of a pair on a busy road - a recluse who'd lived on his own for 35 years....you can imagine! The family had to pull out the kitchen totally and install a new toilet....!! Four skips later...you get the idea. After the muck was gone and the place vacuumed and cleaned as much as possible it looked - well it looked what it was, a renovators' opportunity (good spaces and excellent flow, with a tiny yard and off street parking. A tram stop at the door. The family wanted venetians cleaned, walls washed and so on - they were making the mistake of thinking it was their own house, not, to be harsh perhaps, of selling an asset which will be someone else's opportunity whether it's to gut and renovate, or demolish and rebuild. So similarly to your mum's, where do you start and finish? As others have said, declutter (which you will have to do at some stage anyway) clean as best you can, and leave the opportunity for others to make their mark. And you know what - despite spending money on it, you'll probably not make a scrap of difference to the sale price. Best of luck...See MoreHow to prepare a house for sale?
Comments (43)HI Sophie. Im a property stylists and the company you are asking about looks very professional from their website. Lovely furniture and the styling looks very professional. I do not know of them but simply giving them a call or email is a great start and ask some questions like the style they think suits best in your area. In regards to prices Melbourne is one of the cheapest states to have furnished with QLD and NSW coming in at the most expensive. As a really rough guide a 2 bed starts at $2400, 3 bed starts at $3000, 4 bed starts at $4000 and so on with each additional living area styled at $800 and out door is usually complimentary. Hopefully this helps you...See MoreUser
