Air condition is called aircon, the combo air conditioner & heaters that you hang high on a wall are called swingers. Countertops are called benches, yards are called a gardens, closets-wardrobe, bonus room-rumpus room, hardwood floors or any wood is called timber. Living in the country is living in the Bush. Carpenters are called a Chippy, electrician -Sparky, brick layer-bricky, plumber-dunny driver. Downtown is called CBD. Neighbor is spelled neighbour. If a room is painted and decorated in updated colors & pattens they are called “Fresh”. If a house is updated in higher end-sophisticated materials it’s called “smart”. Fittings-are basically light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, appliances. Color is spelled colour. Picture rails are still pretty common. Queenslander-is a traditional style of home in Queensland that has a bungalow/Victorian/country/cottage feel. “security screens” are popular on windows & doors-which is a metal lattice. Full fences around your property are also popular.

Hi Elizabeth... I completely agree with Barbara regarding the photos... I think they would look lovely in a collage effect on one wall (arranged in a nice way of course), this would de-clutter the top of your bookcases/unit... With regarding to the book shelves... I would like to see them in a much lighter colour, obviously one that would compliment your other furnishings... maybe a similar/same colour to the walls, as this will help them to blend in more and not look too "in your face", just a thought... I would also like to see what they'd look like if you split them up.. eg: have the two book cases on one wall and the TV unit on another (if that is possible), with a gap in the corner to separate them... a tall lamp (not too decorative) would also look good in the corner and at night would illuminate the area to make the room look bigger :) I'd also love to see that gorgeous vase you have on the floor, near the lounge, up on a wall unit, as a feature, but with only a couple of other things accompanying it... you don't want to make the top of your units looks too busy again... but the vase is fairly high, so would make a nice feature to your room and as you already have similar colours in the room to match it, it would stand out a bit more... could be an option to try :) And one last thing, try putting the rug under your lounge, but sticking out the front of it... and maybe even turning it so that the long edge is hanging out under the lounge... this should also make your room look a bit bigger and a little bit lighter as it will show more of the lighter coloured carpet underneath... Sounds like you've made a decision not to cover any of the brick. Just to answer your question - the masonry adhesive is applied to the brick surface (not the Gyprock) in blobs approx 450mm apart. It sets pretty hard so to remove it at a later time you'd probably have to chisel it off. Any residue left in the surface of the brick could be touched up with brick coloured paint. Apparently you can also use cornice adhesive. Same way of removing & hydrochloric acid would remove any residue.

I'd go further , and be more brutal ! Right now , you have white walls , off white leather coaches , off white floor tiles ( in a lounge area -- cold , cold , cold IMO ) and a grey jute type rug . Do you dislike colour haha . DON'T go for blands -- go bright and big , again just my opinion . Hard to tell the wall sizes between windows , or what the rest of the room looks like , but how about this -- -- A couple of leafy plants around a metre tall , each in a suitable gloss glazed pot , matching colours in red or maroon or yellow or orange . -- A solid wood coffee table -- I'd buy a well used $10 one on an auction site , with chunks and knocks and worn corners . Varnish the top , paint the legs and cross bars in a mix of 50/50 paint and turps , to almost make it a stain . Go with a similar red/orange/ yellow as pots , BUT not a match . And when you are done painting , but before it is dry , add more paint so it is then 66-75% paint , and dab and rub some on using a sponge . -- Get a BIG picture -- 2metre by 1.5 . Similar but different colours to the above . Can't find one you are rapt with ? Go with close , get any left over coffee table 'stain' , and dab it on , streak it on , rub it in circles . Say you use orange , get some test pots in apricot and mid yellow and 3 shades of red . Repeat with them too , and/or thin them and suck them into syringes , and have fun squirting them across the picture . In other words , make or at least modify your own work of art original ! Theres nothing stopping you there either -- how about painting some small random offcuts of ply and gluing them on ? One or two bits of aluminium or stainless ? A rusty bit of tin ? A knife and fork ? Make it into a 3D multimedia piece ! ALL the above -- $1000 tops and a couple of days of fun !
