I am also in the build stage and originally, I was having a fish tank that was then to become the focal point of the lounge, hence all the furniture was to face the tank. Now, the tank has been scraped and I have, with the help of a dear friend, completely done a 360* with the furniture and was able to decide to hang the tv from the opposite wall. My point is, if your plan is in it's infancy, in other words not set in concrete, on the drawing board still, then my advice is, CHANGE something, so that the room becomes more balanced!! No time like now to visualize the space and keep drawing just that room until you have enough windows, doors etc... to satisfy your needs and you will probably solve the problem fairly quickly. It depends on the particular stacker system - each window supplier's design is slightly different and not all are made equal. It is worth speaking to the supplier you are thinking of dealing with and asking what their solution is for preventing water ingress etc. Some suppliers even have an option to incorporate a drain along the recessed track (similar to a long architectural drain) which could be an option if you are still concerned and have the funds.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. To answer a few questions, the main things we are looking to do are to add value to the house (by increasing the size of the carport, improving alfresco area and bringing the laundry into the house) and increase the light into the house (by replacing an existing run-down flat-roof alfresco with a pitched roof, replacing walls with glass windows and doors). @MB Design & Drafting - The dashed line is the shared driveway (strata property). Good idea about swapping the laundry and bathroom, however I have hesitations about the bringing laundry noise into the middle of the house. I agree about the budget being a bit small, so I think we will concentrate on those things that will add value to the house and cut back on some wish-list items. Fly screens can be included. The track is wider to accommodate two sets of sliding doors, one your glass, the other your fly screen. Another option could be a retractable fly screen. This allows when the doors are completely open (no bugs around) the fly screen can be retracted completely to side of window frame.
