Tree gets watered weekly (more in Summer); gets occassional Seasol; and western sun from mid-late arvo.

Comments (7)I think you have a sago in your garden already ..the one remaining plant..the other thing that looks really great in pots is mass plantings of mother in law tongues .. Not sure of proper name. Low maintenance, low water, only occasional removal of the odd dead leaf. No leaves to drop in pool. You can get different sorts, to hind the fence go for really tall ones, in long rectangular pots or mass grouping of round, get a few big pots I always think they look better than groups of little ones .. Comments (0)looking for help from a plant expert here. We planted these beautiful teddy bear magnolias about 4 years ago....they grew into healthy big bushes. Now all of the sudden some of the bushes have lost almost all their folage and the leaves are turning black and they seem to be dying. First off it was one tree, now 4 of them are like it with 5 healthy ones left. The soil underneath some of these trees also has a white film on it. Is this some sort of fungus? Comments (3)Hi Devoted Friend, Those magnolias do look like they're struggling! From my experience their condition would be due to more than just lack of water. I think you've done the right thing pruning off the diseased leaves and branches, and from the final photo it looks like you might be seeing some new shoots already. I'd now work on improving the general health of your plants just by being diligent with watering plus adding a slow-release fertilizer, and a light mulch to improve the soil and conserve water. You want to see moderate, strong new growth rather than masses of weak shoots, so go for a general, balanced fertilizer maybe starting at half the recommended rate. 6 years agoI feed my magnolia ( teddy bear ) in a pot dynamic lifter and its growing beautiful, I think repotting and moving it as you suggest could be your answer, and also the water guage as annb suggested.
