Need help with design of living area
Comments (23)Nice ideas bellesum. Here is the same thing with l-shaped kitchen. Bathroom ends up being a few inches wider to get the w/d to fit...you'll need to look at this in more detail because the w/d often requires extra space behind for connections. As drawn it's exactly 760mm square. If you do need more space for connections you'd have to fiddle with the design of the cabinet. Perhaps the refrigerator, pantry and laundry centre are one large (and fairly complicated) cabinet. That would save you a few mm of wall space. You could even put a "hidden" sliding door on the tv wall that opens to reveal the w/d hidden inside....See MoreNeed help with custom bunk beds in difficult space

Comments (10)Hi all thank you for your comments, the bathroom is 2700 wide (window wall) and 1800 deep- looking at 2D plan from doorway, less the boxed in area to the left of the window which is 700 x 800 which creates the fixing wall for the shower head, and and an alcove for the basin area. As you can see it is a planning nightmare and all your suggestions are very useful, I had thought of closing in the window all together & putting in a skylight, but externally it would mess up the appearance of the upstairs windows that are all the same and look nice from the street view.Always a balance between one decision and another. All other options for placing the shower = claustrophobia and given the room is already so poky, at least a shower floor area of 1370 x 800 will give some sense of space. Ive read up on so many design ideas for small areas, thank you angelasusanm, I'm shuffling papers all over the place as I love proportion and a bathroom with many angles is difficult, especially for tiles to look good. This bathroom is not a redo - its never been completed and so there are no skirtings or wall tiles or anything, the pic has a piece of wood looking lino on the floor....See MoreHelp for small square bathroom design
Comments (28)The latest update! The demolition work commences on Monday. My budget has now blown out to about $14K,including everything however I think it's going to look great. My plumber and tiler are great tradesmen, and I am going to get quality fittings (on clearance from Tradelink!). My vanity does have drawers, however I had to make the compromise due to the cost and time for it to travel to WA. I have also increased the size of the shower to 900wide and the shower screen is 1160 as I am not getting it custom made (and saving $1100 in the process). The plumber has said as I need to remove and replace some of the walls, he can do an inset in the shower for shampoo/conditioner etc.and in inset/step at the bottom for shaving legs. Can anyone recommend if I should do it, and if so, what size the inset should be and how high it should be from the ground? Any advice is appreciated!...See MoreJoanna Beale Interior Design
