For tropical plants try crab claw or gingers for the height to screen the fence and little flashes of brilliant colour. They tend to grow upright rather than outwards. They can be easily cut back without looking scrappy. I'm also thinking of perhaps mother in laws tongues and/or moses cradle. These two are very hardy and pretty cheap plants that can take the odd running over with the car... one thing I've noticed about driveway plants is occasionally someone runs them over! You could space the larger gingers a few metres apart and then fill in the rest of the spaces with the smaller plants. They also reproduce and you can fill in any gaps from accidents with babies from other plants. They also can all handle the hot hot sun and don't bush out. The gingers can come in variegated foliage and I think would have a better coverage and shape than cordylines.

Not that I know a great deal about plants (yet) but you may want to include what your climate is and location (shade of a building part of the day or direct sunlight) as this will effect peoples recommendations. for our area (hot sun, sandy soil), we are going for Crepe Myrtles and screens of jasmine and passion fruit vines for narrow spaces.

Thank you, you cant see the the trees I have in the photos due to winter but I have 12 trees already in my front yard. ( 7 silver birch, 1 mop top 2 weepings, 1 red maple and a another) I do love the hedging. I was thinking something like the below photo with the same path going to my front door but placing the same purple plants around the sides that I have in my 3rd photo . I would like to use edging do I place some along the 3rd photo. I love the above photo with the trees and hedge layering, I could do that along the front fence. What do you think ? I don't really know plant names so I am saying sorry in advance

I would start by removing all the concrete block walls, lattice work and pool fences to give you an idea of the space and opportunities available. You have a long driveway so replacing it will be a major cost, depending on the type of material you use, so you should probably start getting quotes to get a feel for the options out there. You need to think about how you propose to use the space, the privacy and the amount of security you need to your front garden. Do you need a childproof/dog proof fence and gate? Also consider how much time, effort and expense that you are prepared to put into maintenance of your garden as this will affect the design and choice of plantings. A more formal garden will need a lot more work than a garden with a more natural feel. Finally think about your climate, amount of rainfall, amount of frost and other environmental factors that will affect the survival of new plants. Do you need to allow for an automatic watering system, or will you be selecting plants suitable for a dry climate? Look at the type of plants that have thrived in your neighbourhood.
