Go with a more neutral patterned traditional fabric for the chair, add a headboard to your bed with the same fabric, or if not the headboard, purchase taller lamps & shades to give a more overall "height" to the room. I would replace single picture with 2 to 3 pictures that are vertical possibly over the headboard. Depending on the size, display them across your headboard so that they span further than the current picture, say across the headboard but inside the shelves. In addition you might want to consider some sort of lighting that you can attach to the headboard that you can direct down rather than thinking of table lamps. I think the shelving can work, but for me would be collectors of things and never looked very nice. If you're different than me maybe you could start with something low on that top shelf with just some small things on the other ones. Good luck

Hi there. I second the Chinese ceramic lamp choose something that works with the warm tones of the timber but also keeps it fresh and timeless. A metallic or lacquered tray for your drinks would be better too. Consider a white with more of an undertone too, like Casper White Quarter or Natural white. Vivid white might be a bit too stark for your furnishings - test pots are a must! All the best!

An electrician can hard wire it and run the cord out the base. Just turn the cord hole to back and silicon closed. Or get custom made
