Gas Ducted Central Heating (NZ)...

Hi, we have gas ducted central heating (Braemar brand) installed two years ago, which is working great. We also have a now defunct HRV home ventilation system (installed by the previous owners) which has recently stopped working. To get it replaced is going to be expensive, pretty much a brand new system. There are no replacement parts available for our old HRV. We've looked at cheaper brands (non HRV) and we are still looking at $3,000 plus for a two fan unit because we need 7 vents in the house. My question is: Do we really need a home ventilation system now that we have ducted central gas heating? Our weatherboard bungalow is toasty warm in winter now, and it's a dry heat so there is minimal moisture on the windows every morning. It has a fan option for the cooler months which basically just rotates the air around the house, so it's not a positive pressure system like the HRV, but it seems to do the trick. Has anyone else got gas ducted heating and not use any other type of house ventilation? Our house is pretty old (1920's bungalow), so the HRV was essential for the previous owners, but since we have installed the gas heating I don't think it matters if it's not replaced. Your thoughts please, and thank you!
