One suggestion I'd make - shelves above a bed are very hard to reach, without standing on the bed. There are many beds though that fold up into a wall cabinet, so take up the thickness of a mattress/frame when folded up. It also makes for a tidier office when it's not a guest room. You may have to hunt for a fold-out that hinges on the long side - most are hinged on the short side (i.e. hinge under the pillow). If you can't find the right unit you might be able to swap with the shelves behind the door, or on the opposite far wall. You'd then have to rejig the other shelves you want above the bed, or move the bed unit the depth of the shelves out from the wall, or rotate it 90 degrees to parallel the wall to the credenza. I'm trying to work out exactly the same problem in my study as we speak :-) albeit with a different floorplan. Good luck!

Also you need what you use all the time at eye level you seem to have every day items on the bottom shelf. The middle two would be so much easier. I also feel it could be time for a big clean out. Empty everything from all shelves, I know its very time consuming but the only way to do it. Allow a whole day. Go through everything individually, put like items together. Keep baking items together, sauces, gravies etc. together, cereals together, snacks together. Work out if you need to buy some baskets or plastic containers for loose items that should go together. Once you start you will be on a roll. When finished you will wonder why you didn't do this before. Dont forget the timber steps, I think you can buy plastic ones also. I have also seen expanding racks that do the same. But I have found them to be a bit over priced. Don't forget to treat yourself after the good job you have done. Good luck

Hi @emmabondscott, what a beautiful set of shelves you have! You are also lucky to have some great items to work with in styling them. I agree with @holdengirl1971 and suggest that you fold the top of 1 basket in and put the soft furnishing inside it, this could then be placed on the left of the second shelf from the bottom, leaving the other basket on the right of the bottom shelf. If you group you lanterns and the object on the same shelf together just right of centre. Grouping in odd numbers is a good tip, as is placing items in a 'triangular pattern' (if you imagine viewing the items from above, they would form a triangle). When selecting items to place together, try to choose things that vary in height - tall , medium and small. The plant is also lovely and should definitely be kept. Pull out towel rails are an excellent option, or perhaps with a pull out cleaner storage basket below it?
