Bathroom Vanity

We are building and have a 84 inch vanity in the master bathroom. I would like a double sink, sconce lighting fixtures, and non edged mirrors. Wondering if I have room for a small tower or if I need to consider recessed medicine cabinets behind our mirrors? One side of the vanity is a wall and the other side is the door into the bathroom. All the pictures I have seen with the towers are 90 inches for longer.

Hi Stacy, as you are building this is the right time to install what suits you and the space. Sconce lighting at eye level is the perfect position for putting on makeup, if this is where you do put on your makeup. So you want to keep this area uncluttered. Will you use the tower for medicine and other 'unglamorous' supplies? If so, you'll probably want them hidden so cabinets behind the mirror would be a good option. However, if you want a tower to display lovely items, could you recess a tower to your specifications in the wall? Now is the time to measure the space and design a solution that fits your lifestyle. Why do you need any clear space at all ? The 'trend' for the last 30 years has been to have basins that protrude slightly forward -- yes , I know , there's arguments for and against , but basically if you have oval basins , there is space to have liquid soap dispensers or whatever other accessories you want , even if your vanity was say 1200 x 300 -- theres no taps , so I actually think your vanity sounds a bit too big visually ( or the basins too small , although at 550 any bigger would be classed as a bath haha ! ) .

Looks like a version of a floating shelf. One for the vanity and one for the towel shelf. Its framed up and then boxed in. You can find similar DIY on Pintrest via https://pin.it/3hio07M or search DIY floating shelves. Haven’t seen them commercially available in Australia, would need to be a custom job.
