I have an orange sectional. My kids grew-up in the meantime, but they were under 6 when we got it. We have a rule.,no eating on the couch. All the eating happens in the kitchen. Sometimes they eat fruits, but they like to sit on the carpet. I wouldn't worry about color. Also, if the fabric is removable, that is even better. Mine is and even though we didn't have any accidents, it's good to know that I can remove it and clean it

Thank you so much. I am standing in my kitchen looking at my shelves and you are so right. Why are all my items so short?? Rookie mistake. I will some height and depth. The rug is bring updated. I'm thinking something with creams or even tan and yes bigger is way better. I think I'll swap the chairs and couch as suggested. I like the light that comes in from that window when the chairs are there but I do think the space looks better with the chairs across from the fireplace . And we are looking for bigger, more comfy (but still modern) chairs diff colour. Thank you again!!

If it was my choice I'd go with the green option to avoid a room that is all shades of orange. Also, chrome or timber. Although chrome does remind me a bit of the 1980s.

I have some 60s TV chairs that recline, I love them because they are a bit retro and suit my dodgy back. I had them reupholstered at the very exorbitant cost of $500 each! They are now a fabric I love but, as someone else pointed out, went from squashy and comfortable to hard foam. I'm spending a lot of time sitting in them to soften them up ;) Also one of them had a higher back, which fitted my 6ft partner, but when they came back they were all the same height. My fault as I should have talked it through with the upholsterer. I would do it again but only for furniture I really love, and I'd be very clear about what I wanted. On another note, we had 2 club chairs made for us more than 20 years ago - we love love them and they will be good as new for a long time. It was way better than reupholstering 2 old club chairs.
