Desparately need design ideas for my lounge room
Comments (57)it's ok Oskuee, I still haven't really finished the lounge, really? this is a great website, I can refer back to comments and advice for future reference as well. I definitely want to find a nice light/s for over the table, I just don't know what will look good, I have been scouring houzz and a few other sites trying to find something that might suit and perhaps improvise with as well with a similar/replica? I still have a couple of pieces by the dining table I want to sell or swap? as I had my eye on a beautiful 2mtr long 1mtr high buffet, but for $3000+ (perfect dimensions and look) Which hides all the dishes and glasses and a built in hidden wine rack : ) I couldn't justify spending that much so have an empty space waiting for something to come along? I have even considered trying to build my own? but don't want it to look banged up either? hehehe...See MoreIdeas needed for my lounge room.
Comments (10)I actually think you are on the right track with your colour scheme of browns and blues - see the photo I've attached that has a 'spa and gold' colour theme (found on 'howtodecorate.com') your lamp would tie in with this colour theme, and your sofa is 'gold'. This colour scheme looks elegant but also relaxed and I think would suit the style of your house. Would you consider painting your wooden panelling a pale blue? This would add the weight to the lower half of the room that Sian mentioned and add subtle colour. From what I can tell from the photos, it should work with the wall colour, although the walls could possibly be a bit lighter. I would move the mirror to above the fireplace (I think perhaps it's too large where it is) and add some artworks to the walls (in gold frames). I agree that a coffee table would be good. I think the rug you already have will work if you just add some some cushions and throws in creams and blues to the sofa to tie it in. If you purchase an arm chair, I would suggest it should be a pale cream or coffee colour as per the picture. The tv unit does look quite dark, it might lighten the room if it was a paler colour - perhaps you could simply cover it with a material slipcover in a light brown fabric which would also hide the contents, that would look more elegant....See MoreHow do I furnish my new lounge room?
Comments (31)Hi Roz, Looks like you have a beautiful space with lots of light, great idea to go with a tropical theme and the bar will be a fantastic touch. If you want something a little more casual, have you considered adding a [drinks trolley/ bar cart[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/bar-trolleys-let-the-good-times-roll-stsetivw-vs~56579761) instead of a built-in bar? Also, there are some great ideas in [this story[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/get-the-look-caribbean-style-with-a-twist-stsetivw-vs~76280038) that might help you with furniture and decor. As a lot of other people have said, natural fibres are going to be your best friends, as are lots of [beautiful houseplants[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/our-10-hottest-indoor-plants-stsetivw-vs~27299305) to add lushness and freshness to the space, perfect with all of those windows. Hope this helps, and can't wait to see the finished product! Deirdre...See MoreLounge Room ideas
