Water proofing in wet areas must be compulsory and tradesperson must be competent and ask for tradesperson if they hold a certificate in waterproofing cert ||| All wet areas including balconies must have a membrane and must be done according to the regulations. Good luck

I didn't answer the question because I wasn't sure what it was - whether you didn't like granite on principle or your particular granite in particular. It would appear to be the former. I'd say, rip it out and replace it with something more to your taste. Obviously, not any form of stone, real or engineered, if you don't like the hard, cold feel, and I would think not concrete or stainless steel, which leaves you with laminate, wood or corian.

ksangus there is a big difference in the two colours. We assume your black is streaking, fingerprinting and looking patchy... .This happen with all quartz no matter the brand. Caesarstone jet black, night sky and especailly vanilla noir do exactly the same.
