What do you see when you're in the bath? Do you have a great view in one direction a vista, or none at all? Personally I'd orientate a single slipper bath toward the view, and if possible have the plumbing at the side (if the bath is sitting in the open) so as not to interfere with the views. If the bath is against a wall I'd have the plumbing at the lower end so I wouldn't have to lean over it to turn the taps on.

I am too pragmatic to have a claw foot tub or even a freestanding one...I vote for the flat bottom bath (but make it a nice one) and PLEASE sit in the model before you install it!!!!

Thanks everyone - I am sold on retaining the tub. I am a nomad - this is home number 7 and whilst I fantasise about a forever home, I have declared it before only to get itchy feet.. Ellen you sell the soak really well. The 21 year old son (who usually uses this bathroom) promises he is leaving home soon. I might create a seriously girly bathroom /laundry which might make a long bath appealing rather than a gross prospect. I can mediate to the sound of the dryer tumbling around.

Mine 15 years old, they don't really need cleaning. They don't really do much, I wouldn't say it's relaxing. They're noisy and annoying to me. I think you would be more relaxed just soaking in a bath. I never turn mine on, in fact we're currently designing a new house and We are putting in a nice soaking bath.
