What matters is what they call the "grin". Been the rug to a 45 degree angle if it is going to waterfall. More than that if you are upholstering the steps. You want to make sure you still like how it looks

OK it's ugly, but think it through. It looks like you've had to get down quite low to take the photo - when you stand up is it better, or worse? Could a blind or curtain take it out of your view without costing a fortune and if you're really unhappy, move it when you have the cash. Of course, if you have that now, I would get it done straight away so it doesn't become an ongoing issue for you. If you move it now you'll probably never think of it again. If you can't afford to do that, look at the other couple of options I mentioned. A blind that moves off to the side, rather than up and down, could be the go for that. Then I'd be sending the photo you have here to several plumbers and find out who could move it for you and at what price. Obviously they'll have to come an quote properly but if you have someone saying it can't be done and someone saying it can, you need to sort that out first because it may not be an issue at all.

agree with Big Reader: we checked the local council website for "building development applications for rural domestic construction" when faced with a similar dilemma 10 years ago and discovered after lots of research that the most cost effective, environmentally friendly, tried and tested, maintenance free system was a traditional concrete tank in the ground with long absorbtion trenches...basically the same (perfectly functioning) system we were replacing after 35 years because we wanted to build over the old one...everyone we consulted agreed that the old system would have happily continued it's effective life indefinately..the only condition being that we not drive over the trenches and/or compact the soil with lots of big animals so we positioned the tank so the absorbtion trenches ran level across a sloping area that we fenced off to establish a native bushland for visiting wildlife

I have one. I actually think they have more suction than most vacuum cleaners as the motor is a lot larger. I have had mine for 22 years with no problems. I think they are very convenient The brand I have is Astrovac. I would recommend it and would do it again if building again.
