Help me update my lounge and study area
Comments (3)I would suggest playing around with your zones, move them without hesitation then sit in each space and rule them out or in as you go. Fresh eyes and all that. I would move your dining to your current lounge, the lounge int that alcove where your study is, you window is higher in here and will accommodate that smart fabric sofa with the tv cabinet on the opposite wall, the armchair will fill the corner really well with a smart floor lamp to accentuate the window and views by night, it will easily become a cool place to retreat. Lounges are also nicer when they have some sense of detachment from the busy work zones ie kitchens and hallways. Your study can be modernized and positioned where your current dining table is, because it's small, and would be an afterthought as you walk right past it from the corridor entering this space. Think stunning bookshelves. Some retro looks have floor to ceiling open backed shelves that could create a hall divider when coming in, so the kitchen is a little more separated, but also, the wall could have some smart practical joinery built here. I would put a desk along the short wall with a designer chair, maybe an upholstered one, a featherston or eames. This creative space could really sharpen the overall look in here, there are some amazing looking workspaces to be inspired by, and the new lounge would feel a real getaway tucked into your corner. You simply go there to relax and Wong have people walking through or past you anymore. The dining room will be where it naturally floes towards, although I love your furniture, id consider some eames or tolix replica chairs with this table as well....See MoreDesign ideas for walk in pantry / study
Comments (8)I have been planing my new butler's pantry for a while and here are some of my favourites. My space is 2.8m x 1.5m (L-shaped). I am having 450mm wide bench with open shelving top and bottom on the long side (maybe one row of open drawers like in first photo), 650mm wide bench at the end with sink and cupboard below. I also have a small alcove on the left which will be used as a broom closet (easy access for spills). In your case I would run the bench and overhead cupboards from the window, along the right hand wall and back around to the door. You could then have a study desk under the window with the natural light. You may also have room to put a fold down ironing board cupboard all alternatively put in a pull out ironing board in the bench that returns near the door. Good luck!...See MoreAdvice on combining my TV and study room
Comments (17)Having a desk of any kind will always be a bit messy if you are like myself. I have placed the computer desk into the niche with the Wall Mounted TV next to it for a reason, we are like minded two screen people, me for drawing plans. The screens mounted at the correct height for the user so you are looking up and not down to avoid any neck problems. Having the screens up off the desk allows more workable space, Open storage above with a set of drawers on one side under the desk with a pull out extra desk top (Ikea ). I didn't go into a whole lot of detail with my first post, you mentioned not wanting anything in front of the window which you viewed down the passage way, Your corner lounge with extra lounge or 2 x arm chairs creates a great conversation space with a large coffee table and a great place to put your feet up while watching TV. A good reason for placing the Desk and TV side by side is to allow you to consider a sliding door to cover the office, as per this photo, which can be pulled across the TV to the wall, you would need to have a small Nib wall on the passage way end of the Niche, I would have expected that anyway You appear to be having trouble with space for your bathroom, suggest you look at a Japanese style bathroom as per the photo, you can position them across or down the room. cheers...See MoreSeeking advice on floor plan layout for kitchen, dine, study & lounge
Comments (35)I mentioned earlier to think about dropping the wall next to the stairs to hip or slightly higher height to allow for the TV, as this would further open up the top floor and perhaps show the street art, ie the framed print. I know that you don't want anything else hanging from the ceiling but because of the ceiling height you will need a reverse hanging fan to bring all the warm air down into the room that will sit up there if you don't. The heater is because you had one shown in your posted floor plan, this is one of the fires available on my 1997 CAD program, that's the colour it comes in but can be changed within the program cheers...See Moresuezbell
