Top cupboards and walk in pantry necessary?
Comments (9)Definately no overheads necessary, this glass section will look amazing, I've doe this in a kitchen, and it looks as though the tops been peeled back. It is amazing to have this size space, and tall cabinets next to the fridge will look fully integrated, my only thought is that while it may not need a walk in pantry, most people want one if it's do-able. To do both, I would offset another wall where your fridge is, by about 1500mm, keeping the fridge at the end, then as if the tall cabinets were there anyway, apply cabinet doors (panels to the wall with one of them actually concealing the entrance to a walk in, with full height open shelves. Tis way it's ample pantry storage, but also can accommodate a multitude of appliances and kitchenalia. When the pantry doors closed it will look like the design you currently have, with a nice surprise behind the wall. Best of both worlds. Taking the 1500mm off the width of this room will actually square up the rooms proportions anyway. So I'd do this....See MoreIs a small walk in pantry annoying?
Comments (13)Louise, I love the door idea on that appliance cupboard pic you shared - that has been a dilemma too so thank you. How wide do you reckon that appliance cabinet is? I'm looking at the second freezer position in my plan - I put it there cuz I reckon it's the siberia end of the kitchen and it will be a pain if the main fridge is all the way up there.... Plus it doesn't take up precious room in a walk in pantry (need room for door to open too). At the moment the back wall is symmetrical hence why the appliance cupboard is a strange 832 wide! Good news is I've minimised (even further!) what's going to be in the laundry (that will be like a cupboard now, but hey a compromise to get a decent pantry) as walk in pantry is much higher priority, so I think I have lots of room for a decent pantry - will post pic once I've drawn it :-)...See MoreDark joinery doors with wall colour walk in pantry
Comments (4)Thanks for you opinion, Judy! I will ask colour selection consultant whether I can get the same colour of WIP door as joinery doors once I hear from the builder. It has been hard to reach them lately lol...See MoreStudy or walk in robe?
Comments (23)why can't you have both? flexible living is much better for resale and a small study or nursery with access to the master through the ensuite or a generous walk in dressing room furnished with dismantle-able DIY wire shelves and hanging storage Keep the hall door to the study locked (add a towel bolt on the inside) and disguised from outside with a gorgeous big wall hanging, curtain or painting, good luck...See Moremelly113
